Weird Version/Edit Of Copacabana?

I just received as a gift a 3-CD set called "Jackie: The Party Album" and it has the oddest version of "Copacabana (At The Copa)" on it.
It's the original recording but it's mono and completely eliminates the final verse. Might anyone out there know some details on this, such as if it was a promo version meant for radio play or not, and if the mono is a dedicated mix or a fold-down of the stereo?

Time-Life have been known to chop songs for their CD compilations. They did that to many of the cuts on their fairly recent "Classic Soft Rock" collection, which I have.

Mono: probably a mastering or production error. I've never heard of it being in mono on an official release. (Hadn't mono records in general gone by the wayside by the time it was released?)

I think there was a 12 inch longer version and a version sung in spanish on 12 inch but never heard of a shorter version.
Sometimes there were radio promo 45s made with mono on one side and stereo on the other. Usually the mono side had a black letters and a white label and the stereo side was red letters on white. Also some 45s had a short version (normal length) on one side and a long album or 12 inch version on the other side.
