Welcome Jammin' 97.1 Jams

I listen on-line here in Atlanta to KLSX 97.1 and they are now running commercials for Jammin' 97.1 Jams during commercial breaks. I understand it will compete with KIIS with no on-air talent. Jack Silver who will you get to talk to once everyone goes? All kidding aside, I never read or heard any on-air talent who worked with him say anything about him that wasn't complementary. He's a good guy.

That means nothing. They play promo's and adds especialy for online streaming, so it's not the over the air signal. I hear these jammin promo's on many CBS radio streams.

It says 97.1 and if I'm not mistaken stresses the word new.  They typically don't advertise other radio stations on KLSX's on-line stream.  They advertise an All Number One web site station and that's about it as far as other stations. Also the artists they are talking about on the new 97.1 commercial are the kind that fit the format they are reported to be flipping to on Friday.

1. Could be a stunt
2. Even its not a stunt, "Jammin' 97.1" does not suggest a CHR, but an Urban Hip Hop format. Doesn't LA have like 3 or 4 of those already?

The term "jams" and "jammin" have already been used in other format monikers in LA, such as "Jammin Oldies" for Mega 100.3 and "Hot 92 jams". Also, if you look at obvious domain names that CBS would have registered by now, jammin971.com, jammin971jams.com and jammin971jamz.com have not been registered, however other more likely names have, such as amp971.com and others. BTW there is a jammin97.com site, but it appears to belong to a 97.3 frequency and not a CBS property.

Well now I found this post on a web site but I don't know if it is accurate or not:

Talk KLSX/97.1 FM will flip to a new Top 40 format called “AMP RADIO” at 5 p.m. Friday, CBS announced Wednesday.

Current talk show hosts Adam Carolla, the team of Frosty, Heidi & Frank, and Tom Leykis will do their final shows live Friday, with Leykis tossing the switch at 5 p.m. to “AMP RADIO,” which will begin with 10,000 songs in a row with limited commercial interruption “or about 28 days of just full-on music,” according to Dan Weiner, senior vice president and market manager for CBS radio in Los Angeles.

The format, described as playing “all the hits,” will also be online at www.ampradio.com. Artists will include Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Rihanna, T.I., Kanye West, Usher, Britney, Pink, Kelly Clarkson, and Katy Perry, among others.

AMP Radio!!!! OMGZ! I had no clue where to listen to the above artists, so this is definitely a welcome addition to the airwaves. Who needs original talk radio with Adam Carolla when one can listen to an extra Katy Perry song. She kissed a girl and she liked it, you know.

I also listen to CBS station streams mostly of those from Philadelphia, and not only do they run spots for "AllNumberOneRadio.com", which you referenced to, but I've also heard promos for WBBM-AM Chicago, WWJ-AM Detroit, and a series of Internet-only skits that now-WYSP-morning host Danny Bonaduce does for a website called "971freefm.com" - methinks they're gonna have to change those spots... ;D
