Jammin' Gold 95.7 anyone? OK, this new format isn't exactly the same as the one which turned out to be a failure back in the late 90's....
However, the concept is similar. Back then we had a station that featured songs from the disco and early 80's era, and while it came on strongly, it lost its lustre after a few short months.
Similarly, years before, we had "Superstars of the 80's and 90's." We saw how well that worked...it was so well received that shortly thereafter, it was back to the glorious "Sunny" days.
And now we have a station that combines the doomsday records of both formats and/or stations.
Just as the "50's, 60's and 70's" is too broad for the masses, so is the 70's, 80's, 90's, and 2000's!
I just heard "Tavares" followed by "Kelly Clarkson." Three words...Ain't Gonna Work!
If 104.5 isn't promoting a spanish format by next week, rest assured we will be singing along to "La Cucaracha" on 106.1 by the end of the year.
