WZMR. R.I.P the Edge. In the middle of Gazers show, The Edge has flipped to "the cat". Welcome to hard rockin cowboys, boys & girls!
Because thats what they are! Their afternoons are pre-recorded by one of the morning side kicks on PYX, there isn't any mid-day DJ, not even an attempt at voice tracking, and the evening, overnight and weekend shifts are syndicated out of market DJs (Premium Choice DJs-they call them). The benefactor of this move will probably be what was the original Edge, now Q-103 WQBK/WQBJ 103.5/103.9. Their music is much more similar to what was played on 104.9, than that of 103.1 these days, which now plays a lot of classic rock too. Plus, unlike 103.1, they have local jocks, most of whom have been in the market for a long time. As far as 104.9 going country (lol)...you have to be kidding me! You now have one of the worst FM signals (next to 93.7 and 94.5) in the market attempting to take on one of the very best signals in the market that has been in the format since they signed on in 1973.heroofnone said:The edge was probably the only good rock station in the area. sadly 103.1's coperate white wash make have the DJs sound like prerecordings or robots.
heroofnone said:supposedly all DJs have been given the option to stay, but seeing a lot of them try to fit into this new format would be absurd.
