Welcome to a future tower guy?

I guess congratulations are in order on the birth of Eli Benjamin Fybush on 5/13. His proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. Scott Fybush.

Broadcasting Fundamental

Scott has likely already set up an annuity fund to pay for his education, with the strict stipulation that NONE of the dollars may be used for any courses related to broadcasting...

Heh heh heh, except that by the time Eli gets to college (2026 or so) odds are good that AM & FM broadcasting probably will be antiquated, even extinct. But the idea of multicasting (as in, wireless internet two-way communication on a broad scope...a la MMRPG's or virtual communities like Second Life) will probably be alive and well. D'oh! :)

While one would think that living in the Fybush house is like drowning in radio stuff...I know quite a few radio geeks like Scott who have kids...some of whom are in their late teens and college-age...and the kids aren't interested in radio in the slightest; I guess parent-child rebellion is alive and well!

Thanks, all, for the good wishes!

Yes, there's a lot of radio stuff here at the playground we call NERW Central, and Eli's big sister, Ari, likes to play with some of it on occasion. Thankfully, she's shown no indication thus far that she's interested in a career in radio...and Eli's unlikely to have any opinion on the matter for some time to come. I wouldn't (and couldn't) forbid either of them from getting into the field, in whatever form it still exists 20 years out, but I'd certainly sit down and warn them of all the many pitfalls along the way...

Scott:

Congratulations to your family. Wonderful news.

Tuition!? Dear lord, it's only a matter of time before NERW becomes a totally subscription site (gulp) and the price of the calendars doubles. Scott, get those children crackin' on those SAT test-prep courses ASAP!

Congratulations to you, your wife and your ever-growing family. Good health and many long, happy years!
