Welcome WHBA 101.7 The Harbor

And the rock continues on 92.1 WFEX ... although it sounds like a low bitrate web stream.

Now that we seem to have it figured out, let's speculate as to what will be on the HD-2.

Well, since they don’t even have an HD-1....At least yet! ::)

I am aware of their current lack of HD, but certainly Clear Channel will put it on at some point after they take over.

There's always Walden Pond in Concord, MA

There was a station named for that. 1120 AM in Concord, MA was WADN "Walden 1120" from the late '80s to mid '90s with a folk music format. It became WBNW, business/financial talk.

Just looking at the Charlotte website and I think it is now obvious what 101.7 will become.

I've looked over this station's playlist, and if this is the future of 101.7, then expect a lot of former WFNX listeners to be on suicide watch come Monday morning. This music mix is beyond awful, far worse than Mike at its cheesiest. I give it a year before they do the sensible thing and flip it to Spanish.

The Lake's playlist looks quite different than the typical 'Jack' variety hits station (and MIKE for that matter). Almost looks like Gen-X radio with a some 70's and 80's thrown in. Lot's of 90's and some re-currents..

I can receive 102.9 The Lake where I live in SC. Agree that they are awful. Music is terrible, imaging is horrible. One of the worst variety hits stations I have ever heard.

HD-2: WFNX.com web stream
HD-3: Radio Boston.com webstream

::) One can dream can't they? ;D

Nah.

My bet is a Mia simulcast.

Hey, this station actually sounds pretty good! Finally, a new station that I actually like!

When I listened this evening I heard no mention of "the Harbor", but a drop-in identified the station as "FNX". What gives?

The 101.7 signal is still under Mindich's control through the weekend, carrying the automated "FNX" webstream content. The expectation seems to be that Clear Channel takes over Monday morning.

bostonradio brings up a funny point on twitter: is the head of the Harbor the...Harbormaster? :)
And when he posted a graphic of an anchor joking it's their new logo I said, "if they do newscasts who is
their anchorman?"

They prob wouldn't do it but imagine if they were beautiful music like in the old days. Bring back those
ships bells from JIB. Ding ding! ding ding! Ding!

What is the signal coverage of 101.7? Wanted to listen to the Friday broadcast, but I couldn't pick it up in my apartment in Lawrence.

JJ, I'll link you to a map. see below...take with a grain of salt of course as it's not totally accurate. It does list Lawrence as being just within the "distant" circle as opposed to local or fringe. Almost into fringe territory.

If 101.7 indeed debuts as The Harbor poss first songs? Sea Cruise. Harbor Lights. Sailing (h/t bostonradio). Come on Down to My Boat Baby. Two Ships that Pass In The Night (Manilow). so many possibilities

right remember it has to help protect
101.5 WWBB Prov. (owned by CC), WWHQ Meredith NH
101.9 WCIB Cape Cod, WPOR Portland, also WKKN Westminster VT etc.

The other night WFNX was a little shaky on 128 nr Peabody. I tuned to 101.9 and found WCIB
and WPOR ( country) pretty strong, fighting it out. Of course xmtr of FNX in Boston now not like Lynn or
Malden (IIRC) before

101.7s...Stowe VT comes to mind, Pittsfield MA, Hudson Falls NY but all those should be pretty far away anyway

Genesis - "Home By The Sea" would be a good one.. ;) .. The Standells "Dirty Water" would be way too easy.. ;D
