Welcome WHBA 101.7 The Harbor

Sounds like they're doing audio tweaks while "Dirty Water" is playing, which is bizarre since this is a MONO recording...

Re: DIRTY WATER on 101.7

3rd go-round now, it's a stunt, likely till they get the signal sorted.

And there was the intro.  "Welcome to Boston's new 101.7, The Harbour. I bet you're wondering what we're all about. We Play Anything", with snippets of a bunch of stuff including Smells Like Teen Spirit.  Mike-FM, redux.  Now playing Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion".

Yawn.

Finally, an ID, and the 'Harbor' is up and running. Commercial free until Labor Day. First song (not counting 'Dirty Water') is 'Sweet Emotion.' Wow, really daring stuff here. Yawn.

Oh, bloody hell, Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" on 101.7. No shame. (although the 9/11 acoustic version was powerful, but this is the hair version they're playing).

Daring, not really, but it will make money. The folks at some workplaces will dig it on their walkthings or mini boomboxes. It's nothing groundbreaking but it reaches a lot of people who like this.

We Play Anything--which of the following are they likely to play?
--Bon Jovi
--Muddy Waters
--The Police
--Keiko Matsui
--Tom Petty
--Eddy Arnold
--U2
--Bob Marley

If you guessed every second one YOU'RE RIGHT!
--Madonna

This station sounds suspiciously like the one that I used to refused to listen to before FNX came along and saved me from hunting for those weak whimpy college signals.

Well, 101.7 is officially off my presets. And Boston has one more horrible, cookie cutter crap station. FM Radio is officially dead. Time to migrate to satellite radio and Spotify for good! Thanks for 29 years of amazing radio, WFNX!! ;)

Some funny comments from FNX fans via Facebook:

"The Harbor? Phew. something smells like low tide."

"They'll play anything eh? How about the old FNX?"

"This is as bad as when Headbanger's Ball was replaced with Superrock."

"Mike FM started out playing some oh wow songs and then narrowed the playlist. The Harbor starts OUT with the narrow playlist."

"Why don't they just call it '101.7 - the Corporation"

"Radio as iPod huh? This means people STICK to iPods. Next!"

"That logo is sickly. Looks like something off the Cap'n Crunch box."

;D ;D ;D Hilarious..
