Welcome WHBA 101.7 The Harbor

This station is IDENTICAL to a station here in Charlotte, NC. I mean the music and the voice over guy and girl...exactly the same. The music is the same. 102.9 the Lake is a "new" station here in Charlotte, NC that debuted a month ago. What is with the water theme? The station has received a luke warm reception and nobody seems to be listening or care. The only diffrence is that down here, CC flipped an already lame station (Lite 102.9) and not a legendary, influential station like 'FNX.

And just like in Boston, our version of this station is playing lame, overplayed, already being played in the market songs and is offering up nothing exciting or different.

Where were these hipsters when FNX constantly got ratings below a 1 share? It seems the Harbor has more people complaining about it than actually listened to FNX.
Apparently Arbitron did not hand out PPMs at Occupy Boston.

Hmm, wondering if they're hiring? Hell, at this point, I'll PLAY...ANYTHING !!! :)
Call Mr. Mindich - the check should have cleared by now. I want some talent on that webstream! ;)

To me this station is totally different for the lake in charlotte and i know that a lot of clear channel stations simulcast off of national stations like Kiss 95.3 from portsmouth nh simulcasts there station the the hit nation station on i heart radio thats not the case with the harbor

I listened on the drive home tonight (715ish to 815ish) from the Brockton/West Bridgewater area to the Worcester area (I-495 north up to Westboro, then Route 9 west towards Worcester). For a good portion of the 495 route, there was a fair amount of static but got much clearer around Westboro.

Mike-FM was my favorite station to listen to while driving although I never listened to it much at home because it never came in that great at home. (100FM The Pike is my "home" station.) I was fairly pleased with the content I heard and will continue to sample when I can. Problem is, sampling will be few and far between I think because the station doesn't come in very well for most of my commute. Depends on if I bother to listen at home.

While Mike was on the air, I had a different commute to Boston and had no issues with that signal.

Mike also played the Barenaked Ladies song 'If I had $1000000" with some regularity. I was hoping to hear that song on The Harbor but didn't happen. ;D

Keep in mind that 101.5 WWBB's HD has been off. Once it's back on, 101.7 will be unlistenable in most of those areas.

I think HD is dead on 101.5 by design. I have an HD radio and I had to find it on EBay - HD is a complete failure.

No, unfortunately CC completely supports it. WWBB's in particular just seems to be problematic. It often goes down on hot days, during storms, power outages, etc. I'd bet a lot of money that WWBB's HD will be back.

Who is Dylan? And what other market did the music list come from?

They guy is from middle America and has only been in town for a year. This helps to explain the complete disconnect between what you hear on 101.7 right now and what its demo actually listens to in this market.

Someone needs to to jump in quickly and retool this thing as first impressions count. Scouer Twitter and Facebook; it's hard to find something positive someone has to say about the new station.

Nothing impressive so far. Most of the songs can be found elsewhere... and "playing anything" is such a lame tag line. If you're going to play "anything" toss in some Coltrane.

Nope, just Sweet Child O Mine. Yeah, I can hear that on AAF every 10 minutes. Whoopty crap.

I was in a Best Buy last week, and I saw a newly remodeled version of the Insignia FM HD personal portable, a new small Insignia FM HD stereo portable/table radio that just came out, and three different in-dash car stereos with HD by Pioneer and a couple of other brands.

The one I bought on Ebay has AM and a clock radio

The unit you mentioned has no AM
