Welcome WHBA 101.7 The Harbor

Voice guy Ken Hudson Campbell was in "Groundhog Day"...the first man Bill Murray's character runs into in the upstairs hallway of the B&B, after leaving the bedroom post-"repeat"...
 
Technically speaking, did WFNX operate from their Lynn studios right up until the switch over to WHBA yesterday afternoon? When the switch over was complete, did the station begin operating out of Clear Channel's studios in Medford? If that is true, CC must have an operational STL established prior to the switch over? Did CC take ownership of WFNX's studio equipment, or was that not included in the sale?
 
I noticed that "The Harbor" claims "We Play ANYthing", but I remember that "Mike-FM" used to claim "We Play EVERYthing". Is there any difference between "anything" and "everything"?

I would also like to know the answer to the first part and even better, is there video or a photo of an engineer at 1 Financial Place with a patch cord? Can anyone give us some more background on what really happened?
Before the switch they were simulcasting the internet feed from Lynn (my guess). After the switch they are running out of Medford, and CC bought the license, transmitter, antenna, and associated equipment, but NOT the studio or the record library. That tells me that CC had to have the computer, music library, and announcers set at some point before that.

Probably not, but the slogan "Playing What We Want" is trademarked by SparkNet, as part of the "JACK-FM" brand. A lot of stations who run similar formats use slightly different slogans to avoid lawsuits from Sparknet. The following WikiPedia article gives some additional background:

No, they both mean "We Play SOMEthing".
 
"We Play Anything" is obviously a slogan and not totally meant to be taken literally. How about CHR stations that state they are the "#1 Hit Music Station?" Same idea... #1 in what aspect? It's easy to over think it, but it's all for marketing/promotion and brand recognition.

I spoke too soon, the HD on WKOX 1430 is back on today! That makes three AM HD's in the area.

A real objective opinion from Mike Cole…not! At least he was honest that he was a FNX listener and basically has an ax to grind with the change.

He also forgets (or just doesn't know) what a great trainwreck -- in a positive sense -- top 40 radio was in the '60s and '70s. Talk about playing everything! MOR, soul, pop, rock, folk, country -- they all got played, often within the same hour. And he has the nerve to complain about a station that plays Boston and Psychedelic Furs! Harbor doesn't look like it's going to veer from rock, but mixing of rock genres and eras is a positive, not a negatie, as far as I'm concerned.

It was also 45 years ago that WTBS ( now WMBR ) started more free form with people like Uncle T, Tommy Hadges and others and paved the way for WBCN the following spring.
 
love the new station hate the signal it suck, i can't beleave a clear channel station has a signal this bad thought this station was going to be from medford not lynn
