WELE Stands Up for Big John

I like how the article just says "incendiary comments" with no real quotes of what was said. Incendiary?...... was he talking about burning crosses in peoples yards?
 
According to RadioDailyNews.com:

"Big John" of 1380 WELE Radio in Ormond Beach, Florida made what some, including the NAACP, call racially charged comments about black Daytona Beach City Commissioner Dwayne Taylor, ("The higher the monkey climbs, the better you can see his ass"), but the company that owns AM radio station WELE said it has no plans to force him off the air.
 
Is this the same 'big john' that was once a government official in volusia county? he used to own - maybe still does - an auto repair shop?

good for him. If you don't stand up to these 'morality and decency police' they will keep going after everyone they have a difference of opinion with. Isn't that what this country was founded on???? have your own thoughts and ideas??? if you don't like what someone on the radio or tv is saying, change the channel.....it's that simple.....besides, if it is AM station how many people actually heard it live? two, three????

and something that has bothered me since the imus thing. Why does jesse jackson get to set the decency/morality standards??? is he so morally sound that he can do this? seems i heard about a child out of wedlock he had with a woman he cheated on his wife with. if you can lie to your wife and family, you can and will lie to anyone.

If memory serves, there was a special election some years ago in which the Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton were chosen to be the designated co-spokespersons for all aggrieved black persons in the United States.

I don't recall the term they were to serve, but I do believe it was quite lengthy.
 
Is Big John an employee of WELE, or does he broker the time? If the latter, good luck to all who wish him off the air. :)

Does WELE still carry Bethune-Cookman sports? That could be a casualty if this flap continues...
 
I'm inclined to think Big John is likely BROKERED, or leased-time programming. I didn't see the comments Big John made particularly offensive. George Carlin, in his infinite wisdom, tells us in one of his skits, there are TWO knobs (basically) on the radio. One that can turn it off and the other CHANGES THE STATION!!

I think you misunderstood. What I meant was everyone seems to be overreacting to what Mr. John said. It's obvious he wasn't making racist remarks, so why not move on to topics that are more interesting and valuable?
