Well folks, look like Old School is for real....

I've never seen 94.5 at a 3.0. They've even beat KRNB. On the other hand, The Beat is not looking too good. Bottom of the DFW urban barrel. Since Radio One is making changes in other markets, I wonder what if they have planned to do anything here?

So! I still think it won't last on a lousy transmitter.

they could move the oldschool format to 97.9 and then make either 94.5 a gospel station, or like they are doing in Houston...FM ALL NEWS. Radio One is blowing up KROI Praise 92.1 for an all news station.

Salem, do you think they might swap frequencies like they did in Philly?

Anything could happen, but in Houston there is nothing like KRLD, doing all-news in most dayparts. Also, 92.1 is a better signal than 94.5.

It depends on what is going to make the most money and the most since. If they see Old School 94.5 as a dominant station, why not make it where it can be heard everywhere without the aid of a streaming signal. But if they are making budget with 97.9 then we will see the status quo.

The playlist is still sucky. Go back and let the jocks pick their own songs, as you said they did during the reimaging. THAT was some great stuff!

KSOC has gotten the expected curiosity bump in ratings. If they don't keep adding songs it will get stale and you have KSOUL all over. It WAS BETTER when the jocks were picking the music. The March numbers will tell the story.

Gospel on FM would do well in this market. However Radio One has no commitment to gospel as a format.

97.9 The beat needs a complete make-over and a local morning crew.

RADIO like POLITICS is all LOCAL

They have committed to Gospel in other markets, just not this one. Its sad that they are killing KROI down in Houston, but maybe they see they can make more money with all news. I wander how much they are making with Majic 102 and 97.9 The Box down there.

I wouldn't completely rule out a local morning show on The Beat. Their new PD was the morning man at his last station

If you have something that works on a rimshot signal, sometimes it's best to keep it there simply because it's working. After all, if you move it to a better stick, you have to find something else that will work on the rimshot!

Not exactly...

Praise is being moved to an HD2 on one of their other stations. If its like most gosphel formats its probably satellite anyway.

KROI was mostly live and local. The Yolanda Adams Morning Show was produced there. Radio One has bought a lot of HD Radios to give to people who are going to miss Praise 92.1. It's a bold move, but will Radio One cover the cost of installing those radio in vehicles. What about the folks who don't have internet access, they won't be able to listen to the online/HD station.
