So it is official GMR is off the air and simulcasting Froggy until the big launch on Monday Morning

Boss Frog and Ann Phibeian
Skeeter
some other weird frog name
Lickin Leah

all come to the HOPPY valley on Monday

This is a bunch of BS and I can say what I want now cause I am no longer employed by either company...way to screw the listeners upper management!!!!!!

Agreed, this totally sucks. I really like how they changed formats right in the middle of the song today. Don't get me wrong, I like country but it is nice to have a little variety and Hot 100 is not my idea of variety. I always found the Revolution/G101 to be a better place to listen because they played such a wide range of songs. Oh well, I guess that is now the nature of the business and they could care less what the listeners want. Good luck AJ and all the DJ's on G101 and thanks for the memories.

geez..with all the crap you fed Forever over the years on this board, even after the deal was announced IIRC, do you wonder why you weren't offered a job? This business is too small for that. I wish you the best in your search for a job...maybe this will serve as a lesson learned.

Maybe you should have your facts straight before you speak...

A.) You have no idea whether a job was offered or not

B.) You also have no idea whether or not I may have turned down any offer from said company

C.) You also don't know what may intentions may have been and/or are

So obviously you may want to think before speaking...thanks!

AJ-

That sux bro.

i dunno if you were fired or what, your post was kind of vague, but whether or not you were, most radioheads have been fired at least twice.

in fact i think human resources people wonder whether or not something's wrong with you if you have been 86ed from a radio gig at one point or another.

Your a talented guy tho, i am sure you'll land on your feet somewhere.

Good luck, JR

I could use an extra hand or two on my fry wagon this summer. True, it only seasonal and once the snow flies, we are done until spring. The annual Harvest Fest at Blands Park will probably be our last gig of the year. Paywise, it's strictly commission and tips.

Does anybody know which Froggy is being simulcasted by WGMR? There are certainly too many of them within the area. I'm going to assume that it is Altoona's Froggy 98 (WFGY/WFZY/WSGY).

Why can't the new Froggy be local at night? As far as I know, Leah is a syndicated program.

I live in Erie, PA and can often hear Forever's Froggy 100.3 and 98.5 (WGYY/WGYI) from Meadville. After listening to two of Forever's Froggy stations (Altoona and Johnstown) that stream online, I think that I like Meadville's Froggy the best of all Forever's frogs. The imaging is great, the music is good, and they are live at night (unlike both country stations here in Erie) taking requests, playing music, and keeping up with the weather and community events. The DJs come on the air quite a bit to give the station more of a personal touch. Maybe it sounds better because it is further away from corporate headquarters in Hollidaysburg...

Instead of duplicating Froggy for all of its country outlets, Forever really needs to shake things up. The stations need to have a distinct identity and sound better. Many of them seem sloppy because it sounds as if the entire station is just "thrown together".

For the love of God, AJ...PLEASE tell me those are not the names their going with!

I assume Chris Prospero is "Boss Frog", as I hear he's moving to "The Frog" as the new P.D.? Priceless!

Ann Phibeian? Why don't they just get a newsman with the name of Toady McWartson? Shirley Ihoppalot with weather and "Web footed" Webb Green with sports? Dear God, this would be truly funny if it weren't so sad.

Good luck A.J.! I hope you find something soon!

Just curious, though...in the chance you would still have been there, what "frog name" do you think they would have tagged you with? :D

Some current part-timer from WFGY is relocating to the new Frog. I'm not sure which of those names he will be assuming. I actually forget his real name too--I didn't know him--but I have it all saved in the iChat logs on my other laptop. Leah is the syndicated thing. I hope that they play a lot of Restless Heart and Sawyer Brown. You can never have too much of those guys. That's a reason (in addition to the smooth jazz and 80s) that I need my XM. The country station here doesn't play any Restless Heart or Sawyer Brown. Spin some Lila McCann a couple times a week also. What about the cover of that Dream Academy song (Life In A Northern Town) by Sugarland, Little Big Town, and friend? It would be a good record to play. I also hope that they double the salary of every Altoona frog who gets simulcasted in State College. And give our buddy Brian an even bigger raise. It's difficult staying up all night.

I think that I like Meadville's Froggy the best of all Forever's frogs

Actually the Pittsburgh Frogs sound very good. Great imaging and music, much much better then Altoona, although you have to switch between four frequencies to follow it as you move throughout Allegheny county due to terrain issues.

I agree. The Pittsburgh frogs are great stations, too.

Aren't they owned by Keymarket, though, instead of Forever? Or is Keymarket associated with Forever?

By the way, I don't like any of the frog names above. Why not "Leapin' Leah" instead of "Lickin' Leah"?

The local Frog in Meadville (owned/operated by Forever) uses the names Danger Frog, Crickett, James Pond (I orginally thought the name was James Bond), and Tadpole for its weekday talent. These names certainly sound better.

It probably is Leapin. Some of those names you mentioned are already out because the are in use in Altoona.

Ummm quick change I think it may have been Leapin and not Licken...I was trying not to drive the car off the road when I heard the promo

Yes Chris is Boss Frog

and I would have gone with Pond Scum...I think it has a nice ring to it...lol

Wow! Someone should inform whom ever put the info on the site that they were wrong...Ace and TJ were not yanked before the station went off the air, the dish suffered some minor damage in a storm and we were unable to maintain an uplink with them. The problem was resolved Wednesday morning, but by that time it was too late!

SO in a town that has eighty percent of the population under thirty even without the students there are what FOUR country stations?

Are the advertisers so behind the times they dont get it? If you listen in ANY other market the top 40 stations are doing great. Sure country has a niche but come on. That niche is small and getting smaller. Then you add in the demo here and you have to ask why the same thirty idiots (yes I will call them that) chose to scratch their bellies and look at the rep across the desk and get away with the same old "I like that thar country so Ill buy dat or git me some on dat bus thang"

I assume it comes down to the fact that Forever sees Magnum as a much bigger threat that First Media. They seem to have the good sales people and momentum in the market. I think hell would of frozen over if a single First media employee would ever smile, once.....

I would of hated to of been the poor person fielding the calls at WGMR the last few days. I dont think any of us should be surprised with Forevers decision to go country. They tend to make programing decisions based on temper and not logic from what I have seen. If somebody made Carol made she goes after them. It must work for them. Forever is protective of Froggy so what now? Will Magnum fight it out? I sure hope. Will they go against the Bus? Will First Media do a thing other then take faxes off the machine and look so dern serious?

Will the FCC take a REAL look at the 2510/Forever incestuous duo? I would think that if you have three or four identical stations, same name, same format, same owner, same market that the comish might entertain the idea that market is now undeserved, and well it is.

I agree. The Pittsburgh frogs are great stations, too.

Aren't they owned by Keymarket, though, instead of Forever? Or is Keymarket associated with Forever?

Always remember,
Forever + Megahertz + 2510 + Results Radio + Keymarket + Videl = All the same owners or at least a few in each of them are all the same, directly or indirectly associated in a bunch of paper and red tape. LOL

The Afternoon-Drive guy's name is "Swampy"...and no, I'm not making that up.

Whatever works, I guess. But seriously? Swampy? Yeeesh!
