Well, it's official. "Oldies moniker removed completely from WOGL.

Just heard the new jingles...just a variation of the old "Oldies 98.1" package, but w/o the "Oldies" in it. Specialty shows gone soon? Flips next?

The logo on the website is very generic looking. A bubble with 98.1 WOGL in it. And the slogan "Greatest Hits of the 60s and 70s."

They have had that logo up on the website for awhile now (months?). I thought it was strange the jocks stopped saying "Oldies 98.1" years ago but they kept some "Oldies 98" jingles. I don't see this as signaling any immediate change, just new jingles to finally get rid of the "Oldies" label dropped otherwise years back.

In regards to the Specialty shows, I doubt it. I heard somebody say not too long ago (maybe "The Charger"), but their Sunday morning lineup was ranked #1, based on ratings. It is hard to beat Elvis & The BEatles back to back.

As Dennis Miller used to say, "...that is just my opinion. I may be wrong."

I hope not.

You know what bugs me a little though...Lots of people I know complain about the short playlist on the specialty shows, especially Street Corner Sunday. I will defend this till the end...I tell them expecially after the "CBS-FM" debacle, be glad you have it at all. I will take what I can get, and I still think the specialty shows sound great!

As most of you know, the "oldies" moniker has been removed on most oldies radio stations.

Involving the slogan, it is a good, but common slogan. "Motown, Soul, and Rock N' Roll" was much more creative.

Just want to say that WOGL is one of the best oldies stations I've ever heard! The specialty shows are great and the overall presentation is great. I only listened at night, but the one jock I remember "Rockin' Ron Cade" is excellent. I like his style. Hats off to WOGL! <P ID="signature">______________

Would this still be the "Positron" package from JAM?

Is there a possibility that someone at WOGL could have remixed the jingles, or are they definitely re-sings?

Just curious...

Yes.

My apologies...I may have not explained that well at all. It's more of a remix than a resing...just took "oldies" out of it and changed it with "ninety-Eight one." No point, just ninety eight one. Damn, i made a mess of this post. lol
