Well... That didn't take long...

Well... That didn't take long.

"Little WGNG"'s stint as a classic rocker lasted under 6 months. It appears the station is relaying 104.3 WGNL with their urban-y format.

That means there is officially no reason for me to ever turn off the XM anywhere in central Mississippi anymore. That being said, I think a 104.3/106.3 simulcast is actually a good thing as the two signals seem to complement each other. Somewhat.

Radio Info shows about a 2/3 overlap in city grade coverage. Is that info wrong?

What town are you in/near? From previous posts I had gathered that you were in south Memphis.

I'm in Grenada. Guess that makes me waaaaay south Memphis. ;)

From my experience the coverage of 106.3 is better than what Radio-Info shows, and 104.3 worse. Both stations provide really good coverage to Greenwood.

Last time I went through, it looks as if Desoto County is coming to meet you about half way!

The simulcast didn't last long, either...

106.3 switched to an urban CHR type format. Or 'hip hop' to be more on point. Ugh. At least the 60 cycle hum that was louder than the music is gone. Something about the folks running those stations, they can't keep the hum out.

...and if I may rant for a moment on this particular broadcaster, they've got 960 so "loud" that it is unlistenable, which is a shame since they play some good ole blues music from time to time. They were splattering from 935-985 kHz when I heard 'em this afternoon. ::)
