well, that's sorta interesting...

saw an ad for an executive producer for Radio One, Columbus.

either they got smart and are putting a producer on the Sunday morning hate fest, after 4 years or so (doubtful), or they are planning some type of move to a talk station, since the ad indicated long hours, which I might tend to suspect.

could this be a WVKO LMA, again highly suspect, or a format flip on 106.3, since they won't touch the other two.

I spoke to the remote tech that was driving the H2 up at RAVE (Polaris) for the Transformers display and he said there is so many rumors flying around the station it's not even funny. Word is (and I stress the word) is that Paul Strong (AKA Paul Long) is getting the boot. Russ Parr is taking over while things are being reviewed for the new owners. Unknown what the new format will be.

Russ Parr is a radio one's "golden puppy" the owners like him, so they syndicated him.

also, it is cheaper to run his show, rather than the local one, but the local one generally had good ratings, and there was no reason to change. The local folks probably got told they finally had to run him to cut cost here.

I think the Russ Parr show is pretty poor, but it is run on a whole lot of R1 stations. We are a lot better off with the current show.

I'm suprised this didn't happen sooner. WDHT/Hot 102.9/Dayton, Power's sister station in Dayton, has been running the Russ Parr show since late-2001.

They have applied for Program Test Authority from the FCC

So, could WVKO be on the air in the next few days??? Also, what format do you think
they will have??

Click here for their P.T.A. application: http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_det.pl?Application_id=1192874

don't know, although I really do suspect an LMA...

I had hoped the city would somehow take it over, and would restore some type of community programming that wasn't one sided. Radio One, a strong probability, for their news talk operations...spanish, possible, but..

I don't suspect Bernard will do anything on their own to appeal to Black/Community folks, they seem to shy away from that real fast, I don't think they will deal with the locals. There is a third group, but that is a "wait and see"

I suspect R1
