Well whaddaya know? Tivo Radio?

Well, not quite, but almost.

A propos of nothing, I have just made a fascinating discovery, and if it's like most of my "discoveries", everybody else already knows about it. I'm always the last to find out what's going on.

Anyway, I have just learned one of the neat things about listening to a radio station streaming on the Internet. When you listen through the Real Player add-on you can go back and listen to something again.

I made this discovery when I heard only part of a story on NPR this morning. You know that little "bar" that crawls across the bottom of the Real Player box as the live program comes in? It occurred to me that I can use my mouse to move that bar back and listen to it again. So I did, and it works.

You can listen to something over and over again and again. You can even "Pause" a program to go to the bathroom and resume it at that spot when you get back. It works just like a DVR does with a live TV signal. Real Player is my default listening add-on, and maybe the other optional listening add-ons can do the same thing -- I don't know.

I realize I may be reporting something everybody else already knows. So please have a little patience with a retired old dinosaur who is still finding his way through the Brave New World of computers and Online radio.

Welcome to the 21st Century tee-hee-hee.

That functionality is present in every audio and video player I've ever used online. Thank goodness, too, since my attention span is fixed at about 7 seconds.

I've heard from a number of listeners who listen to our internet stations through Tivo as well as through one of the gaming devices...not to mention both iPhone and Android apps...

The Pocket Tunes Radio app for iPhone also allows recording and playback of streams on a delayed basis...

Why don't you hook your receiver up to a DVD recorder using L and R composite? And hook up the video portion up to a VCR that has a blue screen. Then set it to timer record. That works I record Hypersonic on 101X KROX Austin 10pm-12am Saturday night while at work. Can store 13 hours on a dual layer dvd+r. Play and fast forward anytime. My Panny also takes DVD+RAM which works like a Tivo (can review while recording)
