According to allaccess WEMJ is now tourist radio, with newscast every half hour and weather every ten minutes.

This is sickening...WEMJ has been the newstalk outlet in the lakes region for decades. Home of Rush and at one time a great local morning show. Don't be suprised to see WEZS possibly pickup where they left off...Go Gary! And shame on you Nassau!

Decades? I don't think so. Maybe 10-15 years.

The trouble with satellite talk is that it's tough to sell...I would guess the Red Sox accounted for the lion's share of their revenue. Other than Rush (whose appeal has long since peaked) and maybe Howie Carr what else did they have worth noting? The morning show they had the last time I heard them (maybe 6 mo. ago) was dreadful.

WEZS seems to have pretty good numbers with the ultra-soft AC format...not sure they'd want to blow it up.

Will WEMJ still carry the Red Sox with this new format? If not, will another station (WEZS?) pick them up?

same thing WBNC 1050 has been doing...I listened to a bit of that while
visiting N. Conway awhile back. I could see Laconia businesses using
this to get the word out, though it's sad if indeed Rush/Howie, etc.
are gone (though the Portland stations do reach that area, don't they?
And maybe the 107.7 from Concord, WTPL--advertised as Lakes Region as it is...

WEMJ will be keeping the Red Sox, although 'TPL has a pretty good signal for me around those parts...might be a lost cause.

When I'm up visiting the family's cottage on Lake Winnisquam (Sanbornton), WEMJ always had an excellent signal there, even at night. I believe we are directly across the lake from them. WTPL has no signal there, so when I want to listen to the Sox up there, I would always turn to WEMJ.
