Coop, is this doing well for WBNC? Tourist info?

Other than the Gunstock Ski Area... what is there to do in the Lakes Region in the winter? Does Nassau think they are going to promote areas like Cannon Mtn, Loon, Pat's Peak etc....?

I could see this working in North Conway since there are things to do just about all year round. Ski areas in the Winter, the outlet stores, and tourist attractions like Story Land in the summer. The Lakes Region is mostly mid-spring to early fall as far as tourism goes. Who is going to advertise in the winter?

As a talk station (even with Rush and Howie Carr) the 12+ numbers were not all that great so it is no surprise they they would can the talk format however I'm not sold on a Tourist Information format working in this area.

As tony the tiger would say, It's GRRRREAT! It works well in this area, tho, because we have stuff going on year 'round. From skiing to hiking/camping/storyland, to folliage, to shopping, and back to skiing!

Perhaps WASR in Wolfeboro will pick up some of those talk shows. Gotta be better than the "music" they play....

If WEMJ can make hay for half the year, I think they would be happy. Really, what else can they do with a walkie-talkie powered AM?

I agree, WBNC covers all the tourism related businesses well in Conway & N Conway...WEMJ barely gets out of Laconia. Laconia is not a tourist hotspot. Their signal does hit Weirs Beach well, but not the other resorts at Meredith, Wolfeboro, Moultonboro, Newfound Lake, etc. I don't see tourists flipping to AM to find out what to do when most of them will hear a bad signal. I lived in this area for 30 years and worked for WLNH, WEMJ in the past...their signal just doesn't cut it.

Aren't they 1000W? No flame thrower, but hardly "walkie talkie" either.
