WENN 1320 is now rebroadcasting WEZZ's soft AC programming

Seriously? The folks at SummitMedia yank the former "Y'all" off of AM and then put "Easy's" format in place of it...and expect listeners to tune in..to an AM station...during the holidays while the Christmas music is running on the 97.3 FM signal?? The AM signal is subpar at best during the daytime, and at night, no one can hear it unless you're a mile from the station's transmitter. Why...??

Bizarre to me. I doubt 99.99% of their listeners will be willing to listen to an AM station just to hear the station's normal programming during the "holiday blackout"...not that many of them are probably aware of the fact that Easy 97.3's soft AC format is now on AM, even if that's a temporary measure. The station does have a message on their website about listening online, but as of now, the stream doesn't connect. btw, RDP, I did receive your emails and I am sorry I haven't had a chance to respond to you yet. Don't let anybody talk you out of what God has planned for you to do. He will provide a way for you. :)

Well, given the listener comments on Easy 97.3's Facebook page (and from what I've heard from some of my new listeners who have bailed on them), that might be the case. As someone mentioned earlier, the decision to put the soft AC format on 1320 must be some sort of temporary filler, because most of their listeners are not going to be too keen on tuning in to to their favorite music on AM; I doubt many of them are aware of the fact that 97.3's usual format is now on WENN, anyway. When the Y'all format was jettisoned off of 102.1 in favor of WAGG, y'all continued to be broadcast on the AM, but many of their listeners were scratching their heads as to what happened to their favorite station...totally oblivious that y'all was still being broadcast on AM, or being streamed at 1021yall.com. Side note: I noticed that since 1320 has dropped y'all, the 1021yall.com website is no longer active and displays a GoDaddy landing page.

Yeah, but what's the purpose behind it? Why not just put the listen link directly on the easy973.com website rather than move it to an entirely new domain (birminghameasy.com)? Once the holidays are over and 97.3 goes back to their normal soft AC programming (supposedly), are listeners going to know which website to go to listen online at that point? btw, Rrrrzzzz419...since your posting on the board quite a bit now, why not sign up with a username? :)

Mr. Passtheword, I have signed up with the username River, however every time I login it says I am not allowed to post. This is why I have been posting as a guest. I have wanted to solve this issue but I haven't really found the time to do this.

According to what I've heard on WENN (which is the only way to access WEZZ's programming at this point, since the online stream is down again), the soft AC fare is coming back to 97.3 on December 26. Before the switch to Christmas music, WEZZ's ratings have been headed steadily downward, at least the 12+ numbers have....dropping by about 53% in roughly six months time.

Granted...the 12+ numbers aren't used to sell advertising, but I imagine the drop is indicative of the general "health" (or lack thereof) of the station. As far as WEZZ going to an online-only venue, I just don't see it. I could see the format being relegated to one of SummitMedia's FM translators in town, however. That is the same route SummitMedia took when they moved Y'all from 97.3 to the weaker 102.1 FM translator. That move was short-lived as well, with 102.1 eventually giving way to a rebroadcast of WAGG, and then WENN and the 1021yall.com website dropping the remaining vestiges of "Y'all" a few weeks thereafter. Whether the new domain name portends of things to come...it's anybody's guess.
