Anyone here remember WENZ as a Top-40? They had the neatest slogan: "Where every day is WENZ-day".
I would love to hear a tape of them. Any one have anything?
There was a time when there were at least 5 AM's programming Top-40 in Richmond-Petersburg-Hopewell...
 
I remember them as an R&B station, not as Top 40 but have heard over the years that they were indeed Top 40 in maybe the early 60's? I always thought it strange that they were so close on the dial to WLEE (1450-1480)..I do remember when I was little being amazed at the number of Top 40 stations on the dial in Richmond. Richmond was also one of the pioneer markets for Top 40 on FM,with WRVQ debuting in about 1972 or so.
 
My memories of the slogan come from about 1964-65. I lived in Bedford then and only visited Richmond, although I was able to occasionally hear them at night at 250 watts on a local channel!
