WEOA 96.1?

Back in 1989, WKLS switched call letters to WEOA for about two weeks. Can anyone remember why? Or was this just a filing mistake?

WEOA Evansville, IN never went dark. The calls started on 1400 from its 1930's sign on and left the frequency in the early 60's. The calls return to the market in the mid-nineties, first as a LPTV call and then a return to 1400 when co-ownership occurred. The frequency and calls today are associated with an Urban format. Though the calls are used once in a while, it’s better known as "The Pump 1400 AM".

I was working at 96 Rock in those days. I am positve the station ID, on air, was never WEOA......I think call changes would be a topic of conversation around the water cooler!
The FCC.gov site does show the calls were in effect.
Just another "information glitch."
