I could not agree more. Nevertheless With WGNY-FM making a good showing in recent ratings books, I doubt WEOK would find it worthwhile to add a local show now.
However most likely comes down to money. It costs Cumulus little to plug a satellite receiver and computer into WEOK's transmitter, let the station run itself and forget about it. WEOK co-owned, simulcast partner station 1340 WALL Middletown has its own live morning show, but Mark West leases the time, actually paying Cumulus for the privilege. I assume he makes money back by commercial sales. Mega, debt-ridden groups like Cumulus don't care much about small market AM stations like WEOK, which has not shown up at all in the ratings in over a decade. I find that fact odd, four formats and nobody, with a diary anyway is listening. Even lowly WHVW has popped up a couple of times even if it was with a one or less.
BTW, the link for The True Oldies Channel stream sounds a lot better than listening to it on AM; it is actually the national feed .
