WEOK/WALL Flipped To Spanish

For those of you have not just heard that as of 12 PM, WEOK and WALL has flipped to Spanish for the first time in 12 years. The last time the station went Spanish was back in 2003 when the station flipped to "Radio Disney".

WEOK and WALL has been with oldies since 2009 when it was part of "True Oldies Channel" which usually runs by Scott Shannon since 2004, but it ended back in late June of last year and went to 13,900 commercial free oldies for 6 months until it ended in January.

WEOK and WALL had a weaker signal and it never got any of the listeners. Some of them might considered going to "Fox Oldies". WEOK and WALL did hurt "Fox Oldies", because the station has been on 98.9 since 2011 and WEOK aand WALL was on AM and it sounded terrible. A lot of listeners might be going to "Fox Oldies" and WBPM for their music fix after losing some of WEOK and WALL's listeners, some might go to "Magic 590" up in Albany. No more oldies on WEOK and WALL. Mark West will still do mornings online instead of on the radio. You should check it out at www.wallhasitall.com

I found this audio, and thanks to Dave ("MusicradioUSA") for this one. Here is an aircheck of the format flip. Will start off with Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" and the last one by John Lennon called "Imagine", the song that WABC played it as the final song be heard the way it sounded back on 5/10/82 and then, followed by Wall of Voodoo's "Mexican Radio" which helped the launch of the new format for WEOK and WALL. Enjoy!
