From cleveland.com:

Ronnie Duncan named new morning host at WERE AM/1300
From The Plain Dealer
1:13 p.m.

'Ronnie Duncan, voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers, will be the new morning host at WERE AM/1300, the station announced Monday.

The morning show, which is part of WERE's new urban talk format, will be heard 6 to 9 a.m. weekdays.

"We felt he was the one who wanted it the most," said WERE operations manager Jim Davis. "We have a lot of faith that Ronnie can do the job and bring it all together."

Duncan, 47, of Aurora, is also a host and executive producer for Village Television, a subsidiary of Adelphia cable. Duncan said he hopes to keep his part-time job with the Cavaliers.

He was a sports anchor for WOIO Channel 19 and WUAB Channel 43. Duncan also has done radio in Cleveland, Baltimore, Columbus, Phoenix and other cities.'

No shock here. Only open slot on WERE will be from 9a-1p. And THAT has to be filled by Monday.

I am shocked that Roger Brown didn't have this 'scoop' for us, Ronnie got space in Roger's column everytime he showed up at a middle school game or his kids came home from college for the weekend.
Of couse, I haven't seen a column from Rog in a week or so...could Rog have left?

Wheeeeerrrr'sss Roger???

Oh, don't forget his puff pieces on Mike Luczak, WKNR's part-time hosts, brokered talk host Anthony Jones (who may have left WERE - I will check) College Sports TV, Action 19, etc.

Let's not get our hopes up ;)

However, there isn't even a pic of him with a note saying "on vacation" in his usual space in the Pee-Dee. Rog's still archived in cleveland.com, but up to last Monday. I'm not going to speculate here on his whereabouts, but if he did leave, that would be the best thing to ever happen to that rag.

And I'm not alone in this - I was told some time ago by someone in the buisness that he is 'absolutely hated' by his collegues at the Pee-Dee, mainly because THEY have to clean up after his irresponsible messes.

Screw all that Ronnie Duncan crap. The REAL news is who said it:

. "We have a lot of faith that

Looks like Jim Davis is staying on at urban talk WERE as OM. And that's a good thing, because Jim is one of the good guys in Cleveland radio, knows his stuff, runs a station as well as or, arguably, better than anyone doing it today, and deserves much better than he got from the likes of Salem.

Congrats, Jim!

Jim Davis and Roger Brown...

I concur with the earlier post about Jim Davis. Great guy. Awesome on-air talent. Pardon the pun here but "word is" Roger Brown might have a column in Wednesday's paper. "An insider says" he might have something in the paper tomorrow about Ronnie Duncan. Brian Bedol of College Sports TV and Trivisonno will have to go on the back burner. Expect there to be some comment on the Triv interview with Art Modell in the next big write-up.

Puhleeeeeeeze

This from the moron who said on live TV in front of a mall full of people when the Browns were returning, "ladies and gentlemen, the greatest tight end of all time, OZZIE SMITH".
I won't even get into his announcing at Cavs games.

At least he didn't say "Ozzie NELSON"!

"this corner" looks forward to reading it.

Re: Jim Davis and Roger Brown...

That Rogerism would make more sense...if had ever seen a boxing match (instead of having Ronnie Duncan TELL him about one).

Or if his column was *in* a corner of the page. But it's top center--normally--of sports, page 2.

Of course, Roger has people talking about him, and that's all he cares about. If he had any self-assurance he'd be upset about the way knowledgable people criticize him--but he doesn't. Which is why he refuses to correct his numerous and obvious mistakes.

Roger is a real tallywhacker.

Re: Jim Davis and Roger Brown...

Perhaps Ronnie will be selling his house in order to live closer to his new morning gig...If in fact that happens, "we" are sure Roger will cover it.

Agreed. And wouldn't it be something if WERE eventually outperforms WHK in every capacity? (Having a LOCAL morning show helps, BTW.)

It's a shame that he can't continue the brokered music blocks in the afternoons. But at least he isn't on the beach - and "Tall Ted" Hallaman will stick around at WHKR-Bainbridge.

If I were the new owners at WCCD, I'd be offering the 1-5pm music block at shot. Bring in some money and help repay their high purchase price.

Re: Wheeeeerrrr'sss Roger???--he's back...

"this corner" "has heard" that Roger Brown is back.
We were given incorrect information regarding the sale of his house...

And no tipoffs from Mike Luczak, Anthony Jones, Chuck Booms or CSTV either...

;D
