Were is Fred

I was just checking out 106.7 and Randy was doing Fred’s afternoon show. No mention of Fred was made after three breaks. IIRC Citadel has bought jingles for “The Fred Show”. ??? I hope this is just a temporary thing. I enjoyed The Fred Show.

I find it weird that Scott S. would wait till now to can Fred. If Scott is “shadow programming” 106.7 why was Fred hired? With all of the out of work announcers they could have hired just about any “sounding” announcer. Fred Brooks was the first “live” person on the station (not counting traffic). Bad ratings I can understand, but Shannon has not been in ATL except to change planes for 20 or thirty years. As to sound, I can remember “Super Shan” literally screaming nights on WMAK Nashville. He is different sounding now.

Awwww that truly sucks, he was a nice guy and always friendly, genuine and positive! I wish him the very best.

I'm really surprised no one has pointed out that the title should be Where is Fred, not Were is Fred. I can only assume that the original poster has worked in radio so long that just saying words vs. spelling them isn't important or they are stupid and cannot figure out the difference between there and their and your and you're and so on.

Now with regards to Fred's dismissal of duty, is anyone really surprised that this happened? We're (contraction of We are) talking about Sh@tadel and Scott Shannon. I'm sorry, but I see him as one of the worst radio pukers of all time. I change presets anytime his voice came out of my speakers. So giving him even more air time will only decrease my listening time on True Oldies. So this is just another bad decision by the suits who only get rewards for treating their employees like garbage all the while those same employees love their jobs and do all they can to be successful; their reward is being shown the door with no explanation of the decisions that lead up to their firing. And I'm willing to bet that they will hold him to his non-compete so you screw the guy by not letting him move on to a new job and earn some money.
So my question is, when will the workers of America stand up to their corporate bosses and say enough is enough and I hope the CEO's and bean counters understand that without a happy support staff a company will fail to achieve their goals.
Well, time to get off the soap box. I await everyone's slamming me, in the meantime I think I need to put my PPM in its charger/report station.

Sorry too much radio. IMHO Citadel is trying to make CC look good.

Freddie will truly be missed. He is a talented, genuine, good hearted person. I wish him nothing but the very best in his future. :'(

In defense of Second Choice, I often type things so fast here that when I go back and read them later, I wish I'd proofed them or written them differently. Mr. Choice is obviously a smart and literate person, and I'm sure he takes after his dad, First Choice.

Otherwise, Tool of the Biz, I agree with your sentiments on the Fred firing. I sure hope they give Kevin Steele serious consideration for the job. He's filling in today and sounds good.

Werewolf - where wolf? There wolf -- Why are we talking like this? I don't know, I thought you wanted too... Okay, I'm easy!

I know the last few days Kevin Steele has been handling afternoons on True Oldies, but he has not mentioned Fred once. I thought Mark Richards was the opm at True Oldies. Before True Oldies launched Fred did weekends on Kicks.

Last night while fixing dinner, my wife put True Oldies on the radio. I didn't notice who the DJ was, but the selection of songs was really bad. After about 20 minutes, I convinced her to turn it off.

Tool of the biz...

Who on Earth Peed in your Wheaties... ? :'(

I got the grinding whell if you have the axe, damn dude!

Since you asked who peed in my Wheaties I'll humor you with the truth. And these are in no particular order, Sh@tadel, Cheap Channel, and [EDIT*].
And yes I have an ax to grind when it comes how bad people show off their ignorance or laziness in posting their thoughts, I cannot take someones post if it is filled with typos and a general slaughter of the English language. . It only reinforces how bad our education system is and why we are the laughing stock of the world when it comes to language.

So jambox..I hope that answers your question. Funny how you focused on something I pointed out that was meaningless to the thread while not addressing what I said about the radio station and its management. I was just pointing out that we should expect more from people in today's age of technology, but I guess at the end of the day there is no reason to argue over this because most on air 'personalities' are just card/computer readers anyway so as long as they pronounce it on the air correctly who will know the difference.

[EDIT*-TOS violation for vulgar content]

I am sorry that I made a (typo) error on the posting. Many years of reading copy before computers with spell check were common at radio stations has permanently messed with my writing and typing skills. I am not an English teacher (or pretend to be a grammar expert). There are a few people around, like me, who are old enough (I started part time 1971 while still in high school), who have done “rip and read” newscasts with the old UPI or AP teletype machines. It is “fun” to try to read a story with a couple of letters missing randomly throughout the page.

That is what an on air person gets paid to do. We can make that crap sound good! Listen to the automated weather service radio if you want to hear all of the proper English rules enforced. In over 350 posts without using spell check, this is the first mistake I have ever been called out on. I did screw up the title of the post. BTW I just copied the tread ran it thru spell check and the computer missed it too! That is why there are still a few humans left in radio to cover mistakes (human or mechanical). As soon as the Weather Channel’s automated weather reading software they use on the eights becomes common then all of the error phoned humans will be gone. Then you’re modern technology will have every thing perfect and you will not have to worry about us “slaughtering the language”.

Uhhhhh.... I think you need an apostrophe in the word "someone's"... :D

(We all need to study more if we're ever going to write good.)

LOL, you got me there. I'm busted, and I'm not crazy enough to think that my poop doesn't stink. We are all human and will make mistakes, as we all do.

Yess, its is easys to makes TYpos some times.
