Not a good book for Entercom AMs. Both WBEN and WGR coming up with their lowest shares in a year.

Some movement at the top as WYRK is back in double-digits. 97-Rock also had a great book while WHTT had its worst book in a while.

No progress for Mix. Otherwise, most of the other stations were essentially unchanged if you take margin for error into account.

Onward to August!

It'll be interesting if stations get wild fluctuations from month to month with the new system---
(9 share in July and 4 share in August.)

WGR tanks during the off-season with no Bills loss to drone on about. Whatever content they offer during the hiatus appears to repel their base.

It's odd that a small to medium market like Buffalo has TWO Alternative formats. Most major markets have only one.

"Not Buddy" is wrong again. WECK had a 2.9. Is he claiming that All Access posted incorrect 12+ numbers?
They list what Nielsen gives them...

Or maybe they know that posting non-public numbers is a copyright violation.

Posting the 12+ numbers is legal. Nielsen releases them, and even posts them on their own site as "Top Line Numbers".

However, posting the subscriber-only numbers that include non-subscribed stations is not permitted.

The whole purpose of doing monthly releases that are made up of 3 individual 4-week periods with full weighting has been shown in several years of testing to eliminate the wobbles that came in the old "trends" caused by lack of trend weighting.

Again, some posters have to depend on "All Access" website as their bible because they have no affiliation to what is actually happening......Here is Summer "July" Phase 1

There is no Summer book in the CDM markets. There are no "phases". Just individual books, 12 a year, named after the month that most closely matches the survey period.

All Access gets the authorized public release data from Nielsen directly via an automated system.

The data you posted came, obviously, from another site that has Nielsen authorization to publish the data.

You posted it without attribution and without a link.

While the data is "public release" it should not be copied to sites that don't have Nielsen permissions without a link and only "fair use" citation of the content.

It is BS that I cannot print the actual phase 1 July neison numbers. This board is really becoming a joke for facts. This is all pontification on this board. Everybody can say anything wrongs and it ok. I subscribe each month, in constant contact with me Neilson rep, and I am the guy who’s wrong?...this board sucks. Its for amateurs and blowhards. I am done. Go on thinking what you want to think. I’m out. Please block me.

A bit lengthy but here is the Nielsen policy on use of its data:

USING NIELSEN DATA IN PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
A client station may refer to the station’s ratings in past rating periods in promotional materials. While we encourage clients to take advantage of this benefit, there are some guidelines that the client must follow when using our data in this way. This policy brief provides a plain-language overview of these guidelines and other related information.

GENERAL GUIDELINES A client station can use Nielsen data in their marketing collateral so long as the client: is licensed to use the data, sources the data correctly, and is factual.

LICENSED TO USE THE DATA
Nielsen Information is copyrighted and reserved for the exclusive use of properly licensed clients and their representatives. The specific data to which a client is licensed to use is defined in that client’s Nielsen license agreement. A client may not use (or refer to) any Nielsen data that is not covered by the client’s license agreement.

SOURCING
The term ‘sourcing’ refers to the proper disclosure of Nielsen as the source of the audience estimates. When sourcing audience estimates, the client must include the market name, survey period, type of audience estimate, applicable daypart, and applicable demo. For example: “New York Metro, January 2019, Average Quarter-Hour Estimates, Monday-Friday 6AM-Midnight, Persons 25-54.” The client should also mention that the audience estimates are subject to all qualifications and limitations stated in the report.

CLAIMS
When including additional information or perspective within the promotional materials (i.e. making a ‘claim’ about the audience data), it is essential that the claim be factual. The Federal Trade Commission has issued guidelines regarding deceptive claims of broadcasting audience coverage. For additional information regarding the FTC guidelines, please see Chapter 16 of the Nielsen Audio Description of Methodology. In order to conform to the FTC guidelines, a claim should be supported by the sourced data; should be plain-spoken and clear; should not omit any published data that disproves or conflicts with claim; nor be misleading in any way.

EMPLOYEES AND SOCIAL MEDIA
While media-related employees are authorized users of Nielsen data in the context of their employment with the client organization, a media-employed individual is not a licensed user of Nielsen data per se. As such, a media-related employee may not post any Nielsen data or claim based upon Nielsen data on a social media outlet unless the posting is a re-posting of a station-originated posting in its entirety (including all required sourcing.)

Ratings are based on audience estimates and are the opinion of Nielsen and should not be relied on for precise accuracy or precise representativeness of a demographic or radio market.

The posts here have lacked complete attribution and the "subject to qualifications" statement.

These rules are mostly for sales use, and the restrictions for public posting limit to 12+ shares of subscribed stations, 12+ cume for same, and "numberless" ranking on dayparts and demos. "Rating" can not be used publicly, nor can AQH persons, etc.

There is no "Phase 1 July" book. There is a July book. There are no longer books named after the seasons. There are no longer trends. There are only 12 month-named books containing the data for the previous 12 weeks of survey activity (not counting four hiatus weeks)

The Buffalo Release dates for the books of July, August and September are 8-14, 9-12 and 10-14.

These weighted monthly books are likely to upset the apple cart, if not a few managers. Ahem. It may take a while to reconcile what's going on. That 97 Rock is gaining is no surprise. Classic Rock is an enduring format. It's no shock to this poster that the new monthly shows WBEN slipping. It's summer. Same with WGR, which is about where it usually is in the sports parched days of summer, but it should start inching up in August and continue climbing through November and December when the Bills and Sabres will be in full bloom. It is somewhat surprising that Classic Hits took a hit, especially given its consistency and the strength of the format in markets like Cleveland and Pittsburgh. As I noted months ago contrary to board trope, talk of WYRK's demise is a bit premature. Jack FM gets a bad rap here, but knowledgeable sources say the format is doing exactly what it's designed to do relative to WGRF and WHTT. CHR Kiss is looking good... and oh, is that WBLK in second place. Good to see WBFO and WNED included in the table.

Once again, these are 12+ ... so all bets are off the table with regard to the (figurative) money demos.

Wow...so Buddy's still on vacation and "Not Buddy" couldn't take the heat...who's next to carry the WECK torch?

And again, I'll say that what Buddy has done with WECK is amazing. He has nothing to apologize for. I hope he gets his 4 share.

As far as WGR is concerned, it just demonstrates the value of the Bills and Sabres to the stations. Without the Pegula Sports content in mid-days on WGR I suspect the numbers would be even worse. Howard Simon is by far the best of WGR's local talent.

WBEN sounds about as burnt out as Sandy Beach. They really need a new local voice with talent and intellect.

Poor Not Buddy... he was too high strung.
