Were Those Christmas Bells I Heard??

Speaking of which...is Dusty doing another day long Christmas show this year?

Hope so..I enjoy it...

Did this station change ownership? I use to keep up with Cincinnati, and always thought this could be a very competitive station based on signal coverage. Down here in Atlanta we have Salem’s Fish 104.7 which does quite well rating wise. 104.7 is a move in and honestly does not cover the market as well as the coverage maps show. I know there is a minor demo difference between the markets. I can understand the religious angle and do not want to start to bash anyone. Is this a real flip and they fired the Air Staff or did the sales department oversell Christmas Music packages?

No, same ownership. They started Christmas kinda early last year IIRC. Thought was weekends only at first. Are they all Christmas on weekdays this week?

Looks like this year its weekdays too.. Was listening online yesterday.

Every year, Christmas arrives earlier and earlier. Before Halloween is definitely too soon. Let the kids get their trick or treating done before we want them to sit on Santa's lap.

Why not start earlier and earlier, it certainly gets them a lot of attention! No reason not to, unless you have listeners and ratings to blow off.

For the past several days the stores here have put out a lot of Christmas stuff and once the Halloween is over I assume that it will take that space to expand. Stores are only trying to get better numbers on the balance sheet before the year's end. I would guess that other cities will be hearing about Rudolf and Dreaming of a White Christmas pretty soon.

With the economy not rebounding as much as they would like, stores are doing what they can to try and capitalize on the Christmas season sooner than later... I was in the grocery store (Meijer's) the other night and they had a full selection of Christmas trees, lights etc up and at it.

First post here...

I have got to agree with you on the early-ness of it all, folks. October 25 seems a bit early to do Christmas - but if it works for them, they'll do it.

The station is saying on their website that it's intent is to reach people who either a) otherwise maybe wouldn't listen to Christian music, or b) who are just down in the dumps.

The latter is an idea I could get behind in today's world...with all the layoffs, gloom and doom, and other negativity...Christmas seems to raise spirits a bit.

Just this blogger's opinion.

I agree, honestly set aside relgious beleifs, radio beleifs on when the music should start.

The first time I hear Christmas I cant help but get a smile thinking about the holiday spirit Christmas brings..

I dunno, I'm in an especially bah humbug mood.
Programming-wise it's uncalled for until at least after Thanksgiving.

When I met my wife thirty years ago we went to Chicago and the Marshall Field's on the loop was already decked out for the holidays in October...something that has been taking place by retailers ever since.
