Were you ever majuberized (sp?) ?

I was not majuberized, but am curious what years he did this. I remember Jazzbeaux from later years- playing music, but never on KGO.

I'm wondering also if this was a common radio bit. In LA in the mid 60s thru about the early 70s - Robert W. Morgan would "Morganize" a caller on his KHJ radio show. It was just a weird sound effect and he'd say, "Zap - you've been Morganized!" Then they'd play his jock jingle. It was kind of lame, actually.

On his TV show (Groovy!), he'd put a teen girl in a glass booth to Morganize them. They would always come out laughing and looking embarrassed. We always figured the girls were getting air shot up their dresses or something...but we were horny teen boys, so who knew?

For most of his career beginning with KSFO.

Most of his stuff was lame, I think. I was never a Robert W. Morgan fan. He had a few catch phrases and that was about it. I don't remember him ever saying anything funny or clever.

I wasn't a fan of RWM either. I much prefered KRLA in the morning (Dave Hull or whoever replaced him) or the great Lohman and Barkley on KFWB (later KFI). But I've begun to appreciate Morgan by listening to old airchecks. His sensibility was much more amenable to an MOR format, so it's ironic that he was the number one DJ on history's biggest Top 40 station(arguably - or maybe second biggest after WABC). He did end up at KMPC later.

I've also discovered that Dave Hull's humor was painfully juvenile. But at age 15 or whatever, I was also juvenile...

Sorry to hijack the thread - back to Jazzbeaux and "majuberizing..."

Newscaster Aaron Edwards worked with Collins during his first tour at KSFO '61-'69. He wasn't thrilled when Al asked him to call this Pizza place and said to tell them that they should send up Jazzbeaux's free pizza, the guy had never heard of him.

Aaron told me the story many years later. Aaron never got Majuberized.

Aaron Edwards was great. I recall that he closed out his career as a general assignment reporter at KGO-TV. No - I can't see him being majuberized, morganized, or anything of that sort.

Yeah, Aaron was great...I had the pleasure of working with him at Golden West's KSFO for six years and then at KGO-TV Channel 7 for four years when I did the 5 O'clock Shadow. He was always a lot of fun and had a great slant on the TV stories he did. Channel 7 was great in those days, what other TV station would hire a reporter his age who wasn't a pretty boy and a strange guy in a trench coat, fedora and mask?

Jazzbeaux also did this bit when he was on KFI El Lay (11 PM-4 AM, IIRC) circa 1969.

I still have a few Majubers stickers.

Outside of Lohman & Barkley and the Dodgers, I didn't listened to KFI in those days, but I first heard Jazzbeaux when he did a short stint in LA at KGBS 1020 - a daytime only station that had considerable ratings success when they switched to a personality format (Hudson & Landry, Bill Ballance, etc.). I don't recall any majuberizing, but I may be forgetting.

good gimmick ksfo talk jock Tom Kamm would "deputize" people with an oath (ex-cop now departed?) and Bernie Ward (in the big house) would sign people up for his "church of the holy donut" and give them a member number

get people to call in and give them something that is free,,and not worth the paper it is not printed on.
