Does anyone know much about this station? I've never been able to hear it since I have a local on 92.1. I have read the format is country and another site says classic hits. Is it automated or live. I think a classic hits format would be a tough sell in a small town like Hamilton.

I have only heard this station maybe twice at the most. Their signal is VERY WEAK.... In fact, WKUL can be heard more often over in Haleyville than Hamilton's WERH can. They mostly play 60's,70's and 80's hits, but are different than 106.9 The Eagle because they have more of an Oldies approach.

As far as I know, they don't even have a website. I even doubt that most people in hamilton even know they exists.

Thanks, kind of sounds like K-82 before they upgraded around '96 or '97.

What was WKUL's power before 96-97? Back then I was only 6 or 7 and didn't even know that any small town stations existed besides 103.1 WXKI in Moulton....

Speaking of WXKI, I once seen a sticker that said "103 WXKI America's Best Country." Were they afffiliated with ABC's Best Country around (or as it's known now as Today's Best Country) at one time or another?

Before the upgrade, K-92 ran 3000 watts from the tower behind their studio, which is still there. They had maybe a 15-20 mile radius at best.

So WERH is classic hits now? I have them listed as country but that was from when I last heard the station… probably in 2002. I was in Hamilton and must have been right by the studio at one point because the FM overpowered a small part of the dial on my old radio.

WERH now calls themselves "Mix 92.1" The Greatest Mix of the 70's, 80's, 90's and Today! The station is automated.
WERH-AM is the station to talk about. There's a lot of Country Music history tied to this station over the 59 + years on the air.

I grew up in Brilliant listening to WERH FM and AM. They were country until a few years ago when they switched to the current Classic Hits format. The station is automated and sounds a bit choppy at times.

I was there last week and could pick up WERH as far out as Carbon Hill. Another station began to muffle them beyond that.

In the eighties and early nineties they had live broadcasters in there running the board. They also had DOC on in the afternoons who later went to WJBB FM in Haleyville to do mornings before passing a few years later.

As Far as I know, 970 doesn't simulcast their FM Mix. The last time I listened, they had Southern Gospel in the mornings, and Country in the afternoons and evenings.
