WERS HD2 finally has separate programming

After a couple of years of simulcasting their main/HD1 parent station, I noticed this week that WERS HD2 finally has separate programming. It's a "show music" format called "Standing Room Only". Music from theatrical productions, plays, Broadway and off-Broadway, original casts, etc... sounds like mainly contemporary stuff, not as much mainstream show classics or nostalgia.

"Standing Room Only" is the name of a long-running weekend program on their main channel. Not having had a chance to listen to this yet (I'm writing this from work), I wonder if they have hosts or are running hostless via automation?

I haven't checked out the HD2 yet, but I've found that WERS seems to be the only station worth listening to (along with 92.5) for relevant rock music.

Those two stations really seem to get it and play 'good' rock music without endlessly regurgitating the same old crap that all the mainstream stations seem to keep spinning.

I hope they keep up the good work.

You mean the stuff that's selling?

Sales or not- I prefer to listen to interesting new (or old) music rather than of an endless loop of the same 30 songs over and over again. It may sell and it may get ratings but I'll pass.

Just my opinion.

I wholeheartedly agree!

Is WBOS's HD2 still running that very WERS-like Triple-A blend that came from hiring all recent-Emerson grads?

It sounds like they are at certain times when the Emerson alums do shows. When they're not, it seems to default to an alt-rock jukebox.
