WERS

I have been checking them out from time to time, and they play some pretty good music! Anyone else listen to them at all?

Yes! I've been a listener on and off for over a year now. They're a great alternative to the other area stations and serve the community really well.

I much prefer the other college stations, but end up on WERS a lot 'cause it's "kid friendly". It's great to have on the dial, and I appreciate the eclectic Folk/AAA mix. But the station should go ahead and play fake commercials since they can't legally play real ones, they're so formatted and rigidly professional sounding, the presentation begs for commercial breaks.

Isn't that better than having a bunch of kids fumble around and play records only their fellow band-mates have heard of? At least they're learning how to do radio at WERS and can get real radio jobs when they get out.

Sure you can clown around and play record collection to your buddies in the dorm room, but in the end, who is that serving? They strike a nice balance between educating the next radio pros and actually entertaining a fair amount of people (178,000 in the last PPM).
