West Coast Waiting for comments

That is TOO funny, as I was just thinking about that. I'm in Mountain, and am about five minutes away from Leno 2.0.

Let's admit, most of us hardcore tv junkies will be watching.

So eastern/central...how did the set look? Was Leno sharp?

I'll get back with my own comments in about a half hour! :)

Allow me since im in Houston watching:

they did change a few spots on his Jay Leno show set, but that's just about it, they now have a new opening, but wasn't eye catching to me, there is a segment on Jay finding a new desk, going to people's houses looking for one, and Jamie Foxx is on there tonight, very happy that Jay is back... by umm... performing a small 5 second concert welcoming Jay back, and popping champaign on the set before giving it to an audience member. And i think Jay's jokes at the beginning were the same as they were at 10/9c.

To summarize, the show wasn't eye catching, but entertaining enough to still watch.

Monologue was OK, didn't laugh much. But there was a Betty White appearance ... hmm. What relationship does Lorne Micheals have with Leno? ;)

ET/CT dudes and dudettes...

Did he not do Headlines tonight? (It's Monday.) It was not
promoed at the top, and no 'Lines yet as of 10:58 MT.

A solid B+. (and to answer the above question, no headlines tonight).

Nice Wizard of Oz-themed open with Betty White. Monologue was funny, but relied on pre-taped bits much like the 10pm show.

Desk search bit was good, and when the desk was finally revealed it looked pretty good. However, the set only shows subtle changes from 10p.

The show, atleast 35 minutes in, seems pretty crisp and actually faster-paced than 10p, but that may just be nerves.

Oops, the band played "Oh Canada" as Lindsey Vonn walked on to the set. Note to band: She is not Canadian.

i thought they were playing the olympic song at the first, the one that NBC plays when they show who they're sponsored by.

The opening title credits seems to be shot a lot like his previous Tonight Show opening. As for the new Tonight logo, that font is what should have been used for Conan's logo in the first place. Well, the logo does look nice when it's golden. On the flip side, it looks dull when it's blue.

The reconstructed set looks nice now that they took the tackiness out and dim the lights a bit. I like the new city background drop that's behind Jay's desk. Speaking of the desk, this new desk is going to take some time to get used to. I still miss the old Leno Tonight desk, but I guess if it was ever brought back it won't have match the reconstructed set anyway. The stage area looks the same as before, so they probably didn't expand the audience area at all. I did notice the hardwood floor where Jay does his monologue seems to be much darker than before, although that could just be the lights making it seem darker.

Considering how they must have had a very limited budget to do all of this compare to the money spent on Conan's Tonight Show studio, I give them an A on effort. That's my thoughts (hopefully no more for a long while) on the Tonight Show set.

I'll also give it an "A for effort" for such short notice. I'm sure things will be tweeked here and there as time goes on. Next month I'll get to see how the whole operation runs in person. ;D

The unnamed announcer was as generic sounding as the 10 PM show. Oh wait... SAME GUY!! The theme was the same as the 10 PM show. The set was very minimally changed. They blacked out the Swinging Supermarket doors and made the other entrance look like the entrance to a palace. Now Jay has a desk too. Otherwise I didn't notice any other changes. The whole thing was dangerously close to what the 10 PM show was. Letterman was much better and Dave has great guests this week. My Leno curiosity lasted for a half hour. Now I'm done with him for a long time.

I DVR'd Leno last night out of curiosity. The local news here showed highlights this morning. Just from watching the highlights, I've already lost interest.

I watched it via hulu.com.

I thought it was just a taped delayed 10pm show airing at 11:35. LAME! I guess they want that unmemerable theme so that
Kevin Eubanks can get royalties after he leaves the show.

The only courtesy laugh I gave was in the Wizard of OZ opening. Then they still crapped on stuttering John. My couriosity has been satisfied. Back to CBS.

Could someone please describe Jay's "Wizard of Oz" opening?

The Good Witch (Angela from "Jay-Walking All-Stars") told Jay to smash two of his collectible cars together three times and say, "There's no place like home." At that moment, Stuttering John started singing the "Lollipop Guild" song, and a wicked witch could be seen flying in the direction of the Ed Sullivan Theater...

I'm sure the clip is online somewhere. Jay was laying in bed. Mentioned he just had a horrible dream that he was on at 10PM. Kevin Eubanks was by the bed Jay told him he was there. Jay also mentioned someone else who was there. Then Stuttering John piped in and asked..Jay Was I there? Jay said.. No Melendez. You wern't there. You could then see tears in stuttering John's eyes... LOL.

Betty White even showed up. Funniest part about the whole show was that opening segment. I turned to Letterman by Midnight.

Maybe they're using that theme until Eubanks leave and then his replacement will create a new theme. The "prime time" theme doesn't have that same excitement as the previous Leno Tonight Show theme had. If Eubanks decides to stay, I hope at some point they go back to the old Leno Tonight theme or at least tweak the "prime time" theme.

I have to make a correction in my earlier post. The city backdrop behind Jay's desk isn't brand new as I originally thought. It looks like all they did was moved the backdrop slightly, placed some pots in front of it, and changed the lighting. I noticed this on Tuesday when Jay was doing the Headlines segment.
