RADIO TODAY
Here's my take:
===============
Generation Z radio listeners and Z people in radio management ARE coming,
if they're not already among us now
Radio 'listeners' IN this generation ARE completely astray from how it was with 'X and Y'
and are deep-down yearning/listening for ANY on-air 'radio originality', may it be in any format
So:
Have ALL the best voices on radio now been heard?
Have all the songs in life already been composed and sung?...
..and have all the best/interesting news topics already been discussed?
Sure: ANYTHING NEW that's put-out in music by a current/former popular artist
- and any crucial NEWS ITEM that demands newsradio attention is STILL going to be aired
AND is going to be judged BY the listeners - be them in all races, colors, creeds...
- so the question remains: what does this medium need to remain popular/stable?
$$? - it TALKS, but radio execs will still count it all up and decide to make cuts knowing full well
talent/programming will go down the drain; improving technology for radio doesn't HAVE to cost
as the majority of people WITH terrestrial radios in the homes/cars - WILL NOT PAY for local radio
OR for even listening to it on the web if they can avoid it...
Smarter people? - OK what KIND? ..ones that ARE digitally radio experienced?...or ones from analog days?
Less regulation? - Can the FCC do anything about it?
*Realistically, we can't CHANGE the way this biz in the USA is headed towards right now...
(from 10 Years After): I don't know what to do - so I'll leave it up to you....
