West Palm Beaches'WRMF'S Dandy Don Wright long gone but never forgotten

Its been a long 13 years today June 1st 1997 since the passing of my friend Don Wright. Don and I were long time friends and his going back to the days in the early 1970's at WFUN in Miami. Of my 30 plus years in radio and all of radio stations that I worked at, Don Wright by far, was one of the smoothest sounding on-air personality's that I've ever heard, not saying this because we were friends, but Don had an on-air quality that's unsurpassed to this day let a lone one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet.

Don passed away a young man at 51, and to me, and as I think of Don often, one could only imagine that Don had a lot of on-air radio years left, but sadly enough, that wasn't meant to be.

Don's nearly 18 year rein at WRMF Palm Beach says a lot about the man, well liked, and well loved by everybody who listened to him all across South Florida, and as long as I'm alive, I'll never quite get over his passing.

Please take a minute and visit Don as he signs off WFUN in Miami on January 6th 1976, its been saved on YOUTUBE. WFUNTRIBUTE.COM-FUN79-WFUNMIAMI.

Don moved on from WFUN to WMJX and then on to WRMF.

Not much more to offer other then I miss Don, and Don your certainly missed by all of those who knew and loved you......

Well, Stormy, you are finally starting to make sense. Don Wright was a great jock, and WFUN in its prime was a terrific station. I'm glad your taste buds have finally awakened.

I had the honor of working with as I called him "Papa" Don Wright at 96X. Without a doubt Don was class through and through. Nothing but a pleasure to work with. In this business you work with alot of people, but there are very few that leave a lasting impression like Don did.

Agreed, I worked with him during my short tenure at WRMF, always a super nice, upbeat guy. He left us way too soon and I get the feeling it was something sudden. Was it a heart attack? I never did hear the details.
