West Peak HD2s MIA

For the past couple of days, WKSS-HD2 and WHCN-HD2 have been inactive, and WDRC-HD2 has been either inactive or transmitting with frequent drop-outs. All three transmitters are on West Peak here in Meriden, so it's not my radio. Any idea what might be going on? Do two Clear Channel stations and a Buckley station actually share equipment?

I think it's an HD2 thing. I know in the past couple weeks there were problems with HD2 in Boston (Greater Media) and HD2 in NYC (Clear Channel)

Strangely, though, the HD2 signals of WWYZ and WTIC are coming in just fine, as is WKCI's. None of them come from the West Peak site, though, which made me think it's some sort of site-specific equipment problem.

The problems continue today, with HCN and KSS still absent (the radio just switches to the HD1 stream when I press the HDS preset) and DRC transmitting dead air on its HD2 stream for the past 20 minutes, after the audio died during the intro to Jay and the Americans' "Walking in the Rain."

For what it is worth, the following West Peak towers are within a foot or two of the same height above ground:
WKSS/WPHH
WWYZ Auxiliary (also has translator antenna for WAMC)
WHCN
WWYZ Main
WZMX/Ct Public Radio

WHCN is the only tower with the light on it so it might actually be the highest by a foot or so.

WDRC's tower is about 2/3 the height of the above four.

Armstrong's tower on West Peak

I've never measured it, and I've seen articles that mention heights of both 70' and 90' but having looked at it many times I would guess that 70' was about right.

Here is a link to a picture of the base of this historic tower

Here's another picture showing the tower and the original building (since expanded).

It is interesting to note that 93.7 (then WLVH now WZMX) used that short tower for many years until they moved to the tower they are presently on which they share with Ct. Public Radio.
