West Terre Haute radio

Is the radio station licensed to West Terre Haute, on Derby Hill, still a religious radio station? The owner was a Baptist pastor who lived in North Terre Haute.

I visited the WWVR studios once 20 years ago. I knew a guy who did afternoons there for a while. The thing was out in sticks pretty good. His directions were to get off I-70 at Darwin Road, turn left on Old US 40, turn left at any of the gravel roads, and since none of the roads back there were marked, drive toward the tower. He also said that if I got lost I should not ask the locals for help; Toad Hop was not a friendly place. The station had a pretty large collection of religious vinyl that was 20-30 years old then. jim

WWVR & WVTS (100.7 FM) were located fairly close together back then. WVTS was on U.S. 40. But that was Derby Hill, the crest of the hill as U.S. 40 exited West Terre Haute. Toad Hop is where Larry Bird lived while he was a student. He and a friend who is now a sports attorney and a Indy 500 car owner. Toad Hop was at the bottom of the hill near the junk yard.
