I Know Of at least 3 Books have been Published on Western Pa. Radio/ TV History. In Doing Research Myself I Came to Find That WLOA 1550 in the mid 1940"s Originaly Applied for 910 with 1Kw Daytime, Then they Applied for 1550 with 1KW Daytime, When that was Approved They Applied for 5KW Fulltime on 1550. WAVL 910 Apollo Wanted 250 watts Daytime, Then Applied for 1kw Day 100 watts Night. 1510 had Applicants in Jeannette and Ligonier Both with 250 watts Daytime [Before the 5 Applicants in Allegheny County]. Channel 4 Was Assigned to Irwin in 1952 and WMCK, WLOA and 2 Non local Broadcast Groups Applied for it. [At that time the FCC required a 170 Mile Spacing of TV Channels] WLOA TV 4 Transmitter site was Near the Current WEDO Site. This is Just a Small Bit of History Starting in 1946. Now In looking at the Current WPGR 1510, I have Traced it's Begining from the Thompson Family to It's Sale in 1979. I Cannot find a Sale Price or Date. Then it sold Again in the late 90's to Mike Horvath. Again No sale Price or Date. But I Found Mike Horvath selling it to Mortenson Broadcasting, Then Mortenson Selling to WAMO and Finally WAMO Selling to Saint Joseph Missions. can Anyone Give me Sale Price and Date From Monroeville Broadcasting to Brua Broadcasting, and Brua to Mike Horvath?

All the Info I Posted came From FCC Records and Broadcast Publications, I Even contacted the FCC Personaly. They refered me Back to the Materials I Was Already Using.

The station was owned at one time by a woman doctor. Randy and I built the phasor and atu's for the increase to 1 KW. We also did the proof. When Barua took over Bill Lawrence tried to run the station using Bob Tracy in the mornings with Mike Bodak, a former WDUQ person doing the news.
