westwood one oldies channell question

Could anyone please tell me what station out there carries the oldies channell from westwood one(bruce chandler,cj stone, rick santos etc.)If they do, do they stream? Thanks for your help.

I'm not familiar with any off-hand. In the past, I've had good luck locating stations which take a 24/7 satellite format by doing Google searches using the names of air talent (plus, in this case, maybe the word "Oldies" and/or "radio"). Stations with websites list the syndicated air talent on their websites.
I've also be able to focus in on same with audio streams by including "listen live" in the search.

I own one of the stations that carries WWI's Oldies Channel (daytime only). There is a clause in the contract with them a station can not stream thier programming on line. Westwood One sold thier music formats to Dial Global back in August. Westwood One no longer owns them. Even under Dial Global, an affiliate can not stream thier programmming.

Why? Is Dial Global going to charge us for listening to those songs? What a giant steaming load of crap there huh? Is thier programming SOOOOO good that they won't let us listen? Are we not good enough to hear thier deejays or that music? What is this about? Why can't thier affiliate people get to work and sign up some stations? Why can't we hear this? I like Steve Everheart streaming station. He should send his signal to stations to play on the air. It's better than that other stuff by a mile.

thank you

93.7 wtrx does in fact stream westwood one's oldies channell live. It's on thier website.

You hit that nail square on the ole’ head HH! Steve’s station is an entire solar-system beyond ANYTHING left of “Oldies” on corporately-modulated radio.

Let’s see...

The big-biz-broadcasters are unplugging their oldies jukeboxes at a record rate...

Format syndication outfits are afraid to display what’s left of their bland “on air” product over the net...

...And the RIAA wishes to shunt the veins of guys like Steve Eberhart and Chuck who are members of the very final fraternity trying to present great music and a really great product... Sorry for the obvious lack of decorum from this middle-ager, but “RIAA—go eat a big plate of poooo”!

What a “Mell-of-a-Hess” all these Gorillas running the zoo have gotten us into

Hello!

We just switched from the Adult Standards format to the Oldies Channel on BIG WRIG 1390 in Wausau, WI. There is a clause in *our* contract with Dial-Global that specifically states that we CAN stream the format, provided we remove all network commercials. (The network even sends a relay closure to help with that process, provided your streaming software operates that way. Not everyone's does.) We have 42 stations in our group, and we're adding streams as we go. I hope to have the BIG WRIG stream up before too much longer!

Even when WW1 operated the Standards format, I found nothing in our contract with them that prohibited streaming, and when I asked them, there seemed to be no consensus. But, they didn't tell us no! Moot point, now.

ABC's Oldies format, on the other hand, absolutely prohibits affiliate streaming, because they want to drive listenership to their OWN website.

If you're really interested in streaming, check with your Dial-Global affiliate rep!

WOKY in Milwaukee is a part-time D-G affiliate, and they stream. You'll find them at www.mighty92.com

I hope you get to stream, but you will still have to comply with the new rates imposed by Sound Exchange/RIAA, unless Congress intervenes and makes things right. (Fat chance!)

As I understand it, under these new rules, each streaming "channel" is responsible for its own payment and reporting to Sound Exchange.

Write your elected officials.

Thank you! Not to worry. We have a rather substantial Web Division, and legal/accounting folks who have been hashing this out for us.

Onward and upward!
