WESX (and WJDA) already changed?

Had heard that WESX Salem (and WJDA Quincy) were to change sometime today--no more local news,"unforgettable favorites", etc.--instead, ethnic and religious programming. I think there's some kind ofLMA until sale officially approved...? Well, just before midnight on 4/30 going into Mon 5/1, it soundedlike Spanish-language music--some of it religous (mentions of "Christo") and some secular (one songsure sounded like a Spanish language version of John Waite's "Missing You").Chance calls may be changing--12:14 am now and all music, no mention of calls. So I'm guessing the new era at 'ESX (and 'JDA) has already started.

I am afraid that WJDA died about ten years ago when Jay Asher went syndicated and WJDA lost it purpose which his father James D. Asher [ JDA] started in the 1940's to be the "primary broadcast facility of the South Shore".The son sold out long before the station went silent. WJDA is no loss to the South Shore. Here's hoping that Ed Perry's WATD expands its fine local coverage to the northern parts of the South Shore.

...and WBOQ is accenting the North Shore part of its name and its location..local news, local advertisers...I think they even do some high school football. They run "Your North Shore...Happenings!..." (jingle) (well of course they need to satisfy the FCC public service requirement, there and elsewhere) and the site has various "local" info. Music also pretty much serves thesame generation as the 'ESX/'JDA "Unforgettable Favorites" did.http://www.northshore1049.com

Does the FCC even have a public service requirement any more?

Has there been any news, information or prayers for the flood victims on the North Shore from WESX and if so what language has it been broadcast in?

>>and if so what language has it been broadcast in?Sé muy poco español, so I wouldn't know...I guess any news/info would be found on WBOQ, or in localpapers. Gas leak near Gloucester Crossing section of Beverly tonight; mentioned on Ch 7 and also WRKO.WESX? Nada.
