WEUS Billboards

Anyone caught the billboards going up around Orlando touting the Big 810? Saw one on I-4 with Shannon Burke, caught another one someplace in town with Ed Tyll. Looks like they're finally getting out in the public eye at 810.

Just remember...they were "FOR SALE" before they were licensed and are still "FOR SALE". Last I heard the asking price was 5.9 million!

I've only noticed the Clear Channel Outdoor blue, green, & white lighted billboard ads in Altamonte Springs & I-4.

I caught that...amazing how they tried to equate Burke's billboards with advocating domestic abuse.... I guess straight reporting isn't something Ch 6 advocates. ;)

Oops...looks like Clear Channel stepped on their, ahem, unit, with their decision to take down the Burke Billboard and refusing to place the rest....

More fun: WEUS orders a banner ad in Super Bowl Sunday's Orlando Sentinel sports section...top of front page featuring the Burke billboard artwork. Carl Como asks for approval while he is on hold.... Sentinel assures Carl Como the ad has been approved and will run, no problem. Guess who received an e-mail (not even a phone call) Saturday informing him that the Sentinel's "senior management" changed their minds? Can you spell jellyfish?

I guess Ed Tyll hasn't made much of an impact at the BIG 810. Those ratings are embarrassing. And I think Shannon Burke's show is brokered.

Although it seems unbelievable either CC or the Sentinel would pass up the revenue lets look at a few twists and turns here. If you believe CC Outdoor had zero contact with CC Radio then what are you smoking? They can claim anything they want just remember liars often wear suits. The whole SB story in a nutshell is he was convicted of dom. violence which he blames on alcoholism, serves his time, gets out, goes on another station and claims to have become a Born Again Christian. He fails to pay his bill at that station then goes on 810. It is possible, very possible for someone to have committed a crime and come out of jail a better person. Never, ever forget that! If that happens, there are outward signs of ditching the "old you" for another, "improved you". Quite frankly, no Born Again Christian I know talks like he does publically, especially taking the Lord's Name in vain and using it as a form of cursing on the air. Quite possibly, CC and the Sentinel think nothing's different with this guy and in time more acts will be forth coming. He does an interesting show. The cursing is nothing more than childish and a bit sad. Notice the phones are dead. He's probably been written off by the public.

Whether you like him or not, you're a fool if you think CC Radio didn't have a hand in the CC Outdoor decision. All it takes is one phone call and a suggestion from a radio "suit" and that billboard is gone. Perfect example of having too much control of the media in one market. ...And Clear Channel isn't the only one.

CBS also owns billboards... yet, I can't think of an example in which they ordered one to come down, based on a former radio personality who was recently on CBS payroll...

FYI, I wasnt convicted of Domestic Violance. I was convicted of "Handling a firearm while intoxicated" and Animal Cruelty". Furthermore I did not "find God". I have always known where he is.

Or, as you said upon your release last May:

"This wasn't a domestic violence case. This was a case of a drunken idiot handling a gun he shouldn't have been handling."

And your wife agreed in that very same article that it was not domestic violence.

I think I'll take your side on this one.
