We've Lost Another Good Broadcaster.....

Steve Rinke, who for the last several years has been on the air in Fort Smith at Cool 104 and Pharis Broadcasting passed away suddenly after suffering a massive heart attack in the station production room yesterday. He was only 49 years old. Prior to moving to Fort Smith in 2004, he had spent nearly thirty years in Clarksville at KLYR Radio and KXIO-FM, and was a longtime pillar of that community.

I worked with Steve for many years. He was as dedicated to the craft of broadcasting as anyone in this state.

He leaves behind some adult children, but also an eight year old son named Connor who he worshiped. This is a tough day for a lot of folks in Fort Smith....

Steve was one-of-a-kind and a good man. Connor (who's actually 11, I think) was one lucky kid to have such a devoted dad as Steve. He will definitely be missed by all of us in the radio biz and in the area in general.

Yes Steve was a good man. He will be missed. Don't seem that long ago since we lost another good man, Gary Elmore. I think alot of us are still not over that one either.
