WEWS' new shows @ 7p

It has been revealed what channel 5 will air in 7 p.m. hour come fall when both "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" scoot over to WOIO.

"Let's Ask America" - a game show,
"The List" - an "Inside Edition" style news/tabloid show.

Both shows are produced by Scripps, will debut on Scripps owned stations this fall, and nationally (through Warner Bros. distribution) in fall 2013.

"The List" is supposed to also include local content mixed in with national similar WJW's PM Magazine back in the 80's. I hope the new shows will succeed.

Raycom's "America Now" (which airs on Raycom owned WOIO weekday mornings) is also something of a throwback to the PM Magazine format.

Here's the weird part, Raycom (WOIO's owner along with WUAB) and Scripps (WEWS' owner) are two of the three companies who created "Right This Minute," which is focused on finding news from online content. It gets weirder, WUAB and WEWS both air the show in Cleveland (the same goes for WXIX and WCPO in Cincinnati).

So weird remembering that as "Wheel" and "Jeopardy!" are moving from WEWS to WOIO. There's going to be a lot of confusion with viewers who are used to seeing those shows on the same home for years...practically forever since the 1980's.

Speaking of WOIO, they've just ran a promo saying that 19 Action News was number one at 11PM. Romona must really be helping them. Who would've thought she and Denise would ever be paired up together. Come fall, WOIO will get only stronger, while WEWS will have to really reinvent themselves.

Scripps is also hiring local talent for "The List" - a videographer/MMJ (multimedia journalist), reporter/MMJ and segment producer/reporter - in each of the cities that will air the program. They might be incorporated into NewsChannel 5 newscasts similar to the ONN reporter.

Channel 43 dumped "Right This Minute" a couple of weeks back.

Don't know if the Cincy situation is still as is though.

Did not know about WUAB dumping "RTM". Thank you for telling me this. Something tells me ratings played a role in that decision.

I did see on another form that WOIO and WUAB don't air shows on HD, and that "Wheel" and "Jeopardy" might not air on HD. That might be bad news for fans unless the stations spends to get the HD feed.

Speaking of, what will happen to "The Insider" and "Inside Edition"? New time slots or new stations?

I could see those shows moving over to 43, perhaps in the 11 p.m. hour, or 19 bumping them down after Letterman/Ferguson.

I wouldn't think 3, 5, 8, would take them, especially in the 7 p.m. hour.

3 has their longstanding news/"Entertainment Tonight" combo, 5 is obviously spoken for, and 8 has news/"Big Bang Theory", which is doing well for them.

55 probably wouldn't take them either, as they don't fit the CW motif.

Don't think the 11pm hour would work as those shows are watched by older demos (50+ typically) and those folks are in bed by 11pm.

It looks like WUAB/WOIO got HD Syndication just in time for Wheel/Jeopardy - just saw a syndicated episode of "30 Rock" on WUAB in HD! About time.

I also saw "Anderson" air on WOIO in HD the other day. "The Insider," though, was still in SD mode, though that won't matter much until September.
