WEXC Greenville

I had an opportunity to listen to the new "Freak 107" this weekend. There were no live jocks during any of Saturday that I heard. While I found it nice to hear a Christian station playing some good tunes, I think they lean a little too hip-hop for my flavors. But that is okay, as some people like more hip-hop. Anybody else have opinions?

What kind of a Christian radio station calls itself "Freak?" That kind of threw me to begin with. I was expecting more of anChristian AC, and not a Christian rock/R&B kind of mix. I wish them well though.

The new handle for WEXC is "Freq 107" (note spelling), per the group programming it for new Beacon Broadcasting owner Harold Glunt. Presumably short for "Frequency", though I suspect most listeners will call it "Freak".

The "Freq 107" moniker is being used already by a Canadian station (Winnipeg), according to a Google search I did. I was looking for an updated WEXC website, but did not succeed. Will there be a new website soon?

Well I think the moniker is perfect. Do the words "Jesus Freak" mean anything to you...?

Probably not, unless programmer/consultant group The Passion Group puts one up.

The old WEXC site is still online and "frozen in time", as it were. It has not been updated to reflect the new programming, or the move of the old format to the AM band.

Just to throw a little smoke onto a old fire, as a former dj on the air from the old wexc, if you wanted a new job at the "new" wexc, you had to sign a paper stating you would accept christ to be hired by Mr. Arch & Glunt. Im biased as you can tell, we with the oldies format were number one in mercer county, so I guess this is not about listeners.
