WEZX Hazleton Translator Completed

Rock 107's newest 107.3 translator is on the air in Hazleton. Its located in Hazleton Heights not far from 1490 WAZL's tower location. It is right along the tree line so it may get better when the leaves drop from the trees. Stopped on scan in front of Jimmy's and in front of city hall. Please give me some reception reports....I'm curious....is it better...equal...or worse than 105.9 WPZX (the translator's primary rebroadcaster).

I'm heading through the air via I-81 southbound soon as we are going to the Harrisburg area soon. I wonder how good of the reception is down there on 81 near the old Exit 40.

The 107.3 translator here in W-B sounds great! My walkman and my other personal radios can't get 106.9 too good because of electrical interference so 107.3 is my perfect choice with these things.

Getting back to the 107.3 translator, I'll try it when I approach near the Hazleton-PA 309 exit.

Kevin,
Headed southbound on I-81, I began listening at the I-80 split. Audio was loud but reception was spotty. No RDS available on a consistent basis through the valley. On the climb toward West Hazleton, both 105.9 and 107.3 are gone. Just past the West Hazleton exit, reception becomes reliable with full RDS.

It sounds like the input may be slightly overdriven but the fidelity is good. There is a noticeable hiss on 107.3 that isn't there on 105.9. Although the signals seem to be about even between the two frequencies in the city, the scan function stops on 107.3, not on WPZX in my car.

Where exactly is the antenna?

Mike
