As someone who has worked for Belo (WFAA's parent company), I can tell you that their cheap standards are really catching up with them. As far as their technical staff goes, it is probably limited and they probably are hiring college kids from SMU, TCU, and other area schools, because they can get them dirt cheap, with little or no benefits. Their station in San Antonio, that I used to work for, is hiring Operations Engineers for less money than I got back when I was hired in 1998. It's really sad that everyone I knew that worked in TV, in North Texas about 10-15 years ago, wanted to work for WFAA, because they were head and shoulders above everyone else... talent, presentation, and content wise. Last time I was up there, even KDFW had a better looking newscast, and that is truly sad. I'm actually surprised that John, Gloria, and Troy are still putting up with it. Is Kathy Clements-Hill still ND there? And, if so, why?!
