Probably an HD Tease.

I'd like to see something totally radical, like Macie Jugson and Alexa going topless !! :D

ha ha ha !!

Bad joke, just couldn't stop myself from doing it..........

Channel 8's news will be done in 16:9 format. I am not sure it will be HD, but I do know it will be the widescreen format.

Only about 7-10% of homes get HD. I'm not sure this is all that big a deal yet. Two years from now when all analog signals go away, I'm sure it will be a bigger deal for viewers.

It'll probably done in either a 720p format, as most people arent viewing in 1080p/i just yet. As someone who has a dish and has been viewing both HDNETs newscast(which is excellent) and the local HD channels via OTA, its looking pretty decent so far. Im hoping everyone else gets on the bus soon, as it seems every other market in the country is running their newscast in HD already.

Darn I was hoping they might actually return to doing the news and Steve was appointed Chief Meteorologist.

Why would WFAA run their news in a 720p format when they currently take ABC's 720p programming and convert it into 1080i for broadcast?

Seeing that MOST people with hd are using 720p, it would be the appropriate step. Plus, when you upconvert, it looks bad ;)

The Houston Belo station is going HD with their newscasts Sunday following the Super Bowl. FAA is usually ahead of HOU with regards to technology, so it would make sense that they are going HD.

KHOU launched HD on their newscasts last Sunday 1/28, a week ahead of the date that was being promoted on-air. So WFAA gets the first runner-up spot.

and like I said then, seeing that KHOU is putting out a better product, they deserve dibs :D

I was disappointed in the HD product Channel 8 put on the air this morning. There's an explanation of the situation on the Dallas Home Theater Group's forum: http://dhtg.napurano.com/forum/tm.asp?m=4167

An engineer with Channel 8 explained that the field cameras are just wide screen standard def and the studio cameras are soft focused due to concerns by the talent that they won't look good. The helicopter's camera is HD and looked pretty good.

One real obvious oddity was Jackie Hyland this morning. I think she wore less makeup or something. Her eyes just didn't look right. It was very odd.

KHOU already went to HD last Sunday. A week prior to the Super Bowl.
