WFAA / Dungan / Delkus

Looks like the transition from Troy Dungan to Pete Delkus is in full gear as of yesterday. During the SB yesterday, all of WFAA's local news spots featured both Troy and Pete as the weather anchors. They also had a spot running for "Team Weather" weeknights at 10:00pm.

Seems that WFAA is going to do everything it can to lessen the blow when Troy decides to take a well deserved retirement.

As well they should. Troy's been an institution on Channel 8
for 30 years now. And since he's the last link to the best local
"front four" I ever watched (Tracy Rowlett, Iola Johnson, Verne
Lundquist, and Troy), it's sad to see him retiring, but I wish
him the best.

Frankly it is an embarassment over the last year to see the weekend team replaced on sundays during sweeps months. It sends a message to Brad and Rebecca and Steve McCauley 'You're not good enough". Despite their posturing on sundays, WFAA has yet to capitalize on this. They should leave the weekend alone, allow John and Gloria to rest for the week during sweeps and let Steve WHO SHOULD BE TROYS REPLACEMENT, do his shift. He obviously knows more and understands the weather better than anyone there, including Troy. The "Team Weather" thing has got to be the brainchild of the non creative mind of Kathy-Clements Hill. It looks so akward and stupid.

Yes, but is it as silly as "Team Traffic?"

A few responses.

First, to the claim that Steve McCauley (dont know the spelling, dont care) is better than Troy Dungan, and even worse, that he "knows more". My foot!!! Have you ever watched a McCauley broadcast??? He can't give a weather report without putting little baby graphics up that say SUNNY and have a picture. ALL OVER THE SCREEN!!! When you say, "It will be sunny and warm", we get the point! We don't need FOUR SUN ICONS to remind us. Steve would be better suited as a first grade reading teacher. ("CAT. C-A-T." can you see it?)

And he knows nothing about the weather, he gets all his forcasts from Troy anyway.

Also, Pete knows what he's doing. I like him as Troy's replacement.

Troy has been great. Honestly, though, the biggest thing I'll miss will be the bowtie. I'm a Finfrock fan. I love Troy too, he is great. But Dave is my guy.

Sorry bud, Kathy wants Steve to use those graphics,he doesn't. Troy even admits he(Steve ) Knows more than Troy. Steve is a degreed meteorologist, Troy is not. Troy is very good. Pete uses whatever he gets from Steve and Troy.
Dave Finfrock is the best of them all, and a great guy.

hide and watch to see if this ends up getting ugly. has anyone seen anything that says troy WANTS to retire just yet?
