WFAA-TV's late news Saturday night

What the heck happened at Channel 8 on Saturday night? The college football game ran late, as usual, so I was up waiting to watch the news. ABC finishes up its interminable spots and promos, and then we go to - black. Then a short snippet of some story about Texas-OU weekend, which was somebody's errant button push, I'm sure. Then we fade to black, and fade up to David Schecter - and no audio. This lasts about :20, then fade to black, and cut to the WFAA logo slide - which stays up nearly five minutes (or so it seemed to me). Then they go straight to Entertainment Tonight.

Did they have a meltdown in their video playback system? I surmised that perhaps they had to reboot all of their computers (switcher, server, etc.) because perhaps they all decided to go belly-up at the same time. But I haven't seen a meltdown like that since my days in small-market TV. And I don't know if they ran the news after ET, 'cuz I went to bed.

I haven't seen anything else about this, so I'm assuming that nobody stayed up to watch the news on Saturday night (or had more important things to do ;)). Any theories?

Must be that time of the year again. Today at noon, there were a few audio screw ups.

they went off the air for 20 min mon afternoon due to a power blackout. they had to call their units back in to edit the tape the old fashion way.

News 8 Midday is about to come on - might be interesting to watch. :)

Arent these usual side effects of Morticia during her annual husk shedding, as we all know she is an alien and keeps a nest in the bowels of communciation center that demands consistant energy to keep it alive...
