WFAA VALERI WILLIAMS COLD

Anyone living in North Texas back in 1992 will never forget this unforgettable (but incomplete) clip from WFAA:

My question is: Is there anywhere to see all of Chip and Tracy's reaction after Valeri's report is finished? As funny as the portion is posted on YouTube, the continued cracking up by the normally-staid news duo is what really made this memorable. I saw the whole thing live and wish I had been rolling tape.

Wally? Johnny? Any WFAA lurkers out there?

I was living in Amarillo when this happened. I remember hearing that someone from Ch.8 tried to get to Amarillo but couldn't make it. I had no idea till I saw this YT vid a while back that there was an actual attempted report from US 287, much less a rare funny mode on Young St. over it. That snowstorm over Thanksgiving in 1992 was a mess. Amarillo was pretty much socked in for a week.

I feel her pain. Somewhere out there is a tape of me freezing on I-35 near downtown Austin in 1996. I was already out for a morning show live shot when the winter storm blew in. By the time I was done with our wall-to-wall coverage I had been out there six hours. Someone told me that my mouth stopped moving after three or four hours. I recall taking a glove off to flip some pages and realizing how cold the air felt on my bare hand. Then I wondered why I didn't feel that same cold on my face. I touched my cheek only to realize my face was completely numb. Hypothermia had snuck up on me. BTW-- a viewer took pity on me and drove to my live shot location with some hot chocolate. God bless 'em.

I lived in an apartment complex in Irving, was gone for Thanksgiving, and during this storm the "carport" (covered parking) tipped over on the cars. Fortunately, mine was at the airport! Was this the year it was snowing (snow flurries) in Texas Stadium in Irving -- as I watched from Seattle? Or am I getting my years mixed up?
