WFAA's Daybreak - What Would You Do?

As Uncle Barky reports http://www.unclebarky.com/dfw_files/e650d5bbba441bcd00a2d4aa5f0cb982-496.html)](http://www.unclebarky.com/dfw_files/e650d5bbba441bcd00a2d4aa5f0cb982-496.html)[/url], Cynthia Izaguirre started on Daybreak last Friday, and Justin Farmer announced he is leaving to join WSB in Atlanta. Uncle Barky points to a couple of scenarios: (1) move Farmer to weekends and Hawkins to Daybreak as a permanent replacement or (2) let Farmer stay on mornings until his contract expires in July, leaving the lame duck Farmer on through two sweeps periods and wait til then for a replacement.

So, if you ran WFAA, what would you do? Look for a new morning anchor internally, conduct a nationwide search or just take the next six months to let Izaguirre gel in viewers' minds? I look forward to the discussion.

Poor Valentine. Guy can't get a decent night's sleep. Books are throttling competition, but you have a host-a-month leaving shop?! From a PR angle:

1. Do not come close to putting someone in that seat until it's the person. Daybreak viewers don't need any more musical chairs.
2. Make that happen by mid-February. Do I really need to say why?
3. Preferably when you find that person (Hawkins wouldn't be bad. Denmon would be great, but I digress), tease the crap out of it. "Blah, Blah is coming to Daybreak."
4. Izaguirre will gel, no worries. I have seen her work in N.M. and she wears on you, in a good way. And about her "duh" commentary with Dale during BigDNYE, she's not really dense. It was a big moment for her. Give her some love. ;D
5. Make Justin introduce it on-air... it could make the transition seamless.
6. Keep Justin in the chair until that next person is announced.
7. Once it's official, give Cynthia Vega a break and make Justin do morning traffic jam on-location shots. :)

Move in Debbie Denmon and move Puppetboy to weekends.

Since I do not watch Daybreak any more, I do not have an opinon. I still watch Channel 8 evenings, weeknights and weekends. Do not jack with the evenings. While Brad Hawkins would probably do well in the mornings, I would just as soon they left him on the weekends. I am used to him being there.

About the only thing I can see that keeps Channel 8 from taking the top morning spot from Ch 4 is that 4 does so much schtick, and 8 keeps their newscast, well, all news. WITHIN REASON, I don't see any issue with 8 loosening up "Daybreak" and making it a classier, tame version of what 4 does. Since they have already committed to Cynthia Izzananchor (?), I don't know that she has the capability or desire to yuk it up some on the air. Debbie Denmon could certainly do it; she's a great interviewer and held her own with Scott Sams, Michael Rey and others on "Daybreak" and "GMT" for quite a while. Perhaps a male "foil" for Debbie instead of Cynthia would work...but I don't see any males on WFAA's roster who might make for a good foil. Justin and Jackie kept things pretty serious, and maybe it's time to break things up some. Now Justin did have some fun today, getting a little animated over the Van Zandt County prisoners wearing pink jumpsuits, but that's the first time in a while I've seen him that way.

Suggestions from this market? Slim pickings, but perhaps in the vein of Brian Curtis or Jeff Crilley.

Since I am one of the ONLY ones who thinks Alexa is hot, I say move her to Justin's chair. ;D

At least you still get your fix. Poor sweet, clean Rebecca Flores is no longer on the tube. Doesn't FOX think she could fit in with the snazzy soignee, Todd Carruth?! ;D

Don't know whether you are being serious or not, but Alexa runs CIRCLES around Rebecca in hotness. :)

shhhhh....(freekazoid....) :-X

How about just sticking with an anchor team for a newscast? Noon is the worst mess, with different anchors seemingly every day, and it used to be worse - would Macie do 6 or 10? Would Gloria do 5? Who's on first?

You're not the only one!! I dated her in high school... She's the "one that got away" for me! :'(

Channel 8 should just go back to running old "Mr. peppermint place" shows and have alexa become the story lady.
